How to prepare & install UltraCrete Enviro Mastic

1. Pour the contents of the 20KG bags into the mastic mixer, but do not put the plastic bag into the mix.
2. Mix the material until it has melted to a temperature of between 180OC & 190OC.
3. Ensure the product is thoroughly mixed, this may take approximately 1 hour depending on the ambient temperature, quantity of product in the mixer and type or capability of mixer being used.
4. Regularly check the temperature of the molten mastic mix, when it reaches the correct temperature & fluid consistency, empty the molten material into a metal mastic bucket.
5. Pour the material straight from the bucket into the pre-prepared reinstatement and hand smooth using a mastic float, pressing the mastic into position.
6. Apply Enviro Mastic in layers of 20 - 50mm depth, pressing firmly and smoothing the surface to create a dense, level finish. Minimum overall installation depth should be 100mm up to a maximum depth of 150mm. In non-regulated private installations, Enviro Mastic can be installed at a 50mm depth, with the balance of the ironwork depth being replaced with cement backfill.
7. Allow each layer of Enviro Mastic to cool before applying the next (approx. 15 minutes) in order for it to firm up and create a base for the next layer.
8. Once the final layer has been applied and whilst the product is still molten, press either 8/14mm or 14/20mm graded, of pre-coated aggregate chippings, as required into the hot surface of the mastic to provide suitable surface texture. Ensure that the aggregate is rated 65 PSV for lower category and 68 PSV for higher category roads. Chippings can be pressed into the mastic using hand roller or float or with the aid of a mechanical roller.
