Joint-It Elite 12.5KG: Brush-in Permeable Paving Grout for Porcelain & Smooth Stone
Joint-it Elite, is a cement free, permeable, ready-to-use, air-cured brush-in jointing compound, designed for use with free draining, permeable beds, and ideal for outdoor porcelain and smooth stone, on outdoor paved areas and patios. The main benefit to Joint-It Elite is that it will work in smaller, tighter paving joints from just 2mm’s wide with a smoother finish on porcelain joints and smooth-finished natural stone.
Joint-It Elite uses an even finer grade of sand than Joint-It Simple, and can be used on joint widths from 2mm, and from 18mm depth. Available in a 12.5KG Tub, and in three beautiful colours Fawn, Dove Grey and Midnight, to complement both modern and traditional paving installations, and the thinner paving slabs and tiles which are becoming more widely used. Touch dry in around 4 hours, and ready to walk on in 24 hours.
To apply Joint-It Elite, all you need is a soft brush or squeegee, clean water, and a hose. Simple to use, and ideal for both domestic and professional use, order either a single tub, or a full pallet available with 80 x 12.5kg buckets per full pallet.
Please note, Joint-It Elite is ideal for patios, paths and paved areas. If there are vehicles driving on your paved area, we’d recommend Joint-It Dynamic which is a two-part resin system instead.

- A single tub of Joint-It Elite will cover approx. 12m2 (will vary depending on joint size as well as paving slab size used).
- Unopened and bag not punctured, Joint-It Elite will keep for a minimum of 12 months when stored in a cool dry place. Joint-It Elite is air activated, so ensure that the bag is not punctured, air cures and hardens the product.

How do I apply Joint-It Elite?
- You will need a clean, soft bristle brush. You may choose a squeegee for very smooth stone such as granite, as a squeegee often makes it easier on smoother stone patios. You’ll also need clean water
- Paving joints must be a minimum of 2mm wide and 18mm deep
- Ensure paving is firmly bedded and stable prior to filling joints and laid on a permeable, free draining, bedding material. We recommend a 6:1 sand & cement mixture
- Prior to grouting, clean the paving and remove all dust and debris from the joints before applying Joint-It Elite. Sprinkle the cleaned paving with water
- Remove the lid from the bucket of Joint-It Elite 12.5KG, take out the bag of Joint-It Elite and give it a roll around to loosen the paving grout
- Joint-It Elite should now be ready to apply to your paving
- Keep the paving slightly wet with water while you work. Never allow the paving to dry as you work with the product, keep re-wetting throughout application – you cannot over water
- Immediately tip Joint-It Elite onto the wet paving slabs, and work into the joints with a clean, soft bristle brush or squeegee, additional water can be added as you work to increase and ease the flow of the product into the joints
- Ensure paving is still wet with water and that all joints are completely filled to the top, with Joint-It Elite Paving Grout, keep lightly re-wetting the paving as you work with the product
- When all of the joints are full of product, sprinkle the paving again with water.
- Wait 15-45 minutes in temperatures between 3-15°C. At higher temperatures, wait 10-20 minutes.
- Using a soft brush at a 45° angle to the joints, thoroughly sweep off all of the excess product from the top of the paving. Ensure all excess sand has been removed from the top of the paving slabs. Check that all joints are filled completely to the top, if not top up!
- For a smoother finish, use a finishing bar or trowel along the joints to strike off. If you are using a trowel or similar, ensure product is still filled to the top of the joints after use. Clean tools and brushes with copious amounts of soapy water after use
- The paving can be walked on within 24 hours, however we recommend that you gently test the joints to make sure they have set before walking on the paving joints. Extreme high or low weather conditions will affect how long Joint-It Elite takes to fully harden and set, usually touch dry within 7 hours
- Please note that Joint-It Elite is not suitable for V joints or bevelled slabs.
- Shelf life is 12 months in unopened tubs, kept away from extreme heat, drafts, cold and damp

Do I need to seal paving before using Joint-It Elite?
When using on porcelain paving, you do not need to seal your tiles or flags, some smoother natural stone may benefit from using a natural stone paving sealer.
Can you over-water Joint-It Elite?
NO you cannot over-water Joint-It Elite. In fact, if insufficient water has been used, the product can stick to the surface of your tiles or slabs and colour enhance them Color enhance, Use a sprinkling of water when applying Joint-It Elite. If any colour enhancement does take place due to insufficient water during application, the paving will return to its original colour within a few weeks.
It is important to wet the paving before applying Joint-It Elite, and to keep it wet throughout application, particularly where you are working on a large area, as one area might dry out by the time you are brushing the product in, or in warmer weather conditions.
What colours does Joint-It Elite come in?
Joint-It Elite comes in three UV stable colours, Fawn, Dove Grey and Midnight. The colour of the lid on the bucket of Joint-It Dynamic denotes the colour of the product inside.
What types of paving slabs can Joint-It Elite be used with?
Joint-It Elite is suitable for use with all smooth natural stone and porcelain paving slabs including:

Can I use Joint-It Elite with Porcelain?
Yes, Joint-It Elite is ideal for using with porcelain tiles and smoother paving slabs. However porcelain is a naturally smooth, non-porous material (meaning water does not soak through the pavers) that doesn’t absorb water to the same degree as natural stone. When using Joint-It Elite on porcelain we recommend that you keep both the top of the paving and the Joint-It Elite paving grout wet with clean water to ensure that it flows into the joints more easily.
Does Joint-It Elite discolour paving slabs?
In some cases if insufficient water has been used, Joint-It Elite can leave a residue which can accentuate any natural discolouration within the stone. This residue should weather-off within a few weeks. Sometimes this can take longer depending on the type of stone used, and whether there was enough water used during the application. There is no need to be concerned, as the stone will return to its original colour.
To avoid any potential problems when using Joint-It Elite, please read the instructions in the tub carefully before use.
In what temperatures can Joint-It Elite not be used?
Do not use Joint-It Elite if the temperature is forecast to drop close to or below freezing within 12 hours of application. Joint-It Elite should not be used, around zero degrees because the water will freeze as it hits the ground making it too difficult to sweep the product into the joints.
Equally in hotter conditions, if the temperature is above 25°, we recommend that you wait until it is cooler in the evening or early morning before applying Joint-It Elite, because the water will evaporate too quickly to allow you to brush the product into the joints.
How long does Joint-It Elite take to cure?
Joint-It Elite is activated when it comes into contact with air, the product hardens more quickly in warmer climates.
At an average temperature of around 20° Celsius, Joint-It Elite should feel hard-to-touch after approximately 7 hours. In cooler climates it should take longer for the product to harden while in warmer climates it should harden more quickly.
Joint-It Elite takes up to 30 days to fully cure. Do not power wash within 30 days of application. After 30 days, it is safe to do so.
How soon can I walk on my patio, after applying Joint-It Elite?
The paving should not be walked on for approximately 24 hours after application of Joint-It Elite in temperatures of around 20°. We recommend that you gently test the joints to make sure they have set before walking on the paving. Weather conditions will determine how quickly Joint-It Elite takes to fully harden/set, hot temperatures accelerate hardening, cold temperatures delay.
What is the shelf life of Joint-It Elite?
Unopened, Joint-It Elite should keep for a minimum of 12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from damp and drafts. It is important to make sure that the bucket is protected from any punctures or piercing as contact with air will begin the hardening and curing of the product.
Can left-over Joint-It Elite be reused?
Any unused Joint-It Elite should be put into the cleaned empty bucket (first having removed the plastic bag) and covered with at least 2 inches of clean water. With the lid closed tightly, the left-over product should keep for up to 4 weeks.
