Ultracrete SCJ Cold Joint Bitumen Seal & Tack Coat Spray: Box of 12 Cans
Ultracrete SCJ is a cold joint sealer, also known as a seal and tack coat spray, which is sprayed straight from the can onto the vertical edges and surface base of the pothole before the application of asphalt or cold lay tarmac. HAPAS approved since 2005, SCJ Bitumen Spray will increase the bond of the material to the substrate, waterproof the area, and prolong the life of the repair. SCJ will also significantly enhance the reinstatement’s performance by preventing the ingress of water and freeze/thaw effect. SCJ is supplied in 750ml spray cans in boxes of 12, with the bitumen being discharged by pressing the the spray nozzle button.

How to apply SCJ Cold Joint Spray
Follow these steps to permanently fix potholes of up to 100mm deep:
- Clear any dirt, debris or ponded water from the pothole
- Use a circular saw with a diamond blade to cut a neat ‘picture frame’ with straight edges around the repair or reinstatement area
- Use a brush to remove any loose bits of tarmac or debris
- Seal the vertical edges and base of the hole with SCJ Cold Joint Spray to stop any water ingress
- Remove the tarmac in its plastic wrapping from the tub and apply gentle pressure to the edge of the bag to soften it
- Pour the first layer of cold-lay tarmac to a depth of approximately 45mm and compact with a tamp to around 30mm
- Reapply the cold joint spray to the vertical edges of the hole before adding another layer of cold lay tarmac and compacting again
- On the final layer, compact well to provide the final surface course
- Apply Ultracrete Instaband Eco around the edge of the reinstated pothole for added protection and to prevent any water ingress

SCJ-750 is a bitumen cold joint sealer and tack coat spray, which is generally applied onto the vertical edges and the sides and base of a pothole before the application of pothole repair. It will increase the bond of the asphalt to the pothole area, and prevent water ingress instantly and any issues resulting from freeze thaw damage.

How do I apply SCJ Cold Joint Spray?
Hold the can tightly and shake vigorously before use. Invert the can and press the spray button. Cover the area to be sealed with long strokes from a distance of 175mm to 250mm, working from the top downwards. Ensure that the entire surface is covered.
To prepare the surface for SCJ Spray, remove as much standing water and loose particles as possible prior to product application. The sealer can be applied to damp or dry surfaces.
How do I clean the nozzle on an SCJ Cold Joint Spray can?
Point nozzle upward immediately after use and spray for a few seconds to clear it, taking care not to spray into wind. Failure to clean the nozzle after use could result in the aerosol becoming blocked rendering the product unusable.
How do you store SCJ Cold Joint Spray?
Aerosol cans must NOT be exposed to direct sunlight or temperatures above 50°C. Store in a cool well-ventilated place. Shelf life Shelf life in correct conditions for sealed goods is 24 months.
Can you use SCJ Cold Joint Spray in any weather?

What products can I use in conjunction with SCJ Cold Joint Spray?
Ultracrete Instaband Eco can be used around the edge of the reinstated pothole for added protection and to prevent any water ingress. For the pothole, use IRR 6mm for repairs to paths and carparks, PPR for drives and IRR 10mm for roads and highways.
