About the product

Flowpoint ECO: Rapid Set Flowable Grout - Natural Grey

UltraScape Flowpoint ECO in Natural Grey is flowable paving grout which is perfect for filling the joints between slabs. Flowpoint ECO is ideal for pointing granite setts, sandstone, limestone, Indian Stone, Yorkstone, porcelain and concrete slabs. The main difference between Flowpoint Standard, Smooth and ECO is that Flowpoint ECO contains 20% recycled materials and therefore uses far less virgin aggregates. Using waste glass in Flowpoint ECO helps the environment by reducing the amount of CO2 emissions, whilst also reducing the amount of waste glass disposed of in landfills.

Flowpoint ECO patio pointing mix comes in Natural Grey or Charcoal, is supplied in 25kg paper bags, is simple to mix with water onsite, is quick to apply and fast setting. The patio grout is mixed and poured over slabs, then worked into the joints with a squeegee, it’s then washed off after an initial 15 minute set time to produce robust joints which prevents weeds from growing back!

Flowpoint ECO exceeds the requirements of BS 7533. UltraScape Flowpoint ECO is known and loved because it’s better for the environment than traditional grouts, fast to apply, cost effective and produces solid robust joints - what’s more it will last up to 40 years!

What is Flowpoint ECO grout?

UltraScape Flowpoint ECO is a fast set flowable grout, perfect for projects with a need for an eco solution as it contains 20% recycled glass. Flowpoint is applied as a wet slurry to quickly point patios, paved areas, terraces and paths, even when there is light rain. Perfect for both domestic and commercial paving projects, Flowpoint can be used with all types of natural stone & manufactured slabs – including sandstone, porcelain, limestone, Indian stone, slate, clay, concrete and granite setts - and works equally well on both smooth sawn and riven flags.

Flowpoint is an award-winning grout favoured by major contractors, and one of the fastest setting grouts on the market, that lasts anything up to 40 years. Supplied in 25KG bags, Flowpoint drys in just 30 minutes and provides a seamless surface with your smooth or riven paving slabs. Flowpoint ECO exceeds all the requirements of the latest British Standard, and has been used for over 20 years across a variety of projects including public realm, landscaping and domestic.

UltraScape flowpoint ECO offers the same benefits as standard Flowpoint but contains 20% recycled material, significantly reducing the consumption of virgin aggregates and is ideal for schemes looking to achieve an ‘excellent’ CEEQUAL award, or where a BREEAM assessment is to be carried out.

Use with the UltraScape BS 7533 Mortar Paving System, a range of high performance materials that meet and exceed the strict demands of BS 7533. Including a rapid strength fine bedding concrete - EcoBed, priming slurry - Pro-Prime and flowable jointing grout Flowpoint.

How do I use Flowpoint?

This handy reel, from a friend and one of our customers David, at Urban Canopy of Derbyshire; on Facebook will show you how to lay Flowpoint, and give you some handy hints and tips. Click here for a video on how to lay Flowpoint Paving Grout.

Why does the number of bags of Flowpoint needed to complete my patio vary?

The number of bags of Flowpoint Paving Grout needed for your patio can vary due to several factors:

  • Joint Size (Width & Depth) – Wider and deeper joints require more grout to fill the gaps. Narrower or shallower joints will use less material.
  • Paving Stone Size & Thickness – Larger slabs mean fewer joints, so you’ll use less Flowpoint. Smaller pavers with more joints will need more.
  • Coverage Efficiency – Uneven surfaces or irregular-shaped stones can increase grout usage compared to uniform, machine-cut pavers.
  • Wastage & Spillover – Some material may be lost due to washing off excess grout, accidental spills, or overuse during application. We recommend using a neoprene squeegee as it’ll get the majority of the grout scraped into the joints meaning less wastage on clean up!
  • Substrate Absorption – If the surface absorbs moisture quickly, it might affect how much Flowpoint you need to keep the joints filled properly.

If you provide your joint dimensions, paving area, and stone size, The Paving Experts team can help calculate the exact number of bags you’ll need! Alternatively, we have a handy calculator on every Flowpoint page. 😊

What is the Shelf Life for Flowpoint?

Shelf life from date of manufacture printed on the bag, unopened in the above conditions, for sealed bags is 8 months. Please note: the use of this product after the end of the declared storage period may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.

If you'd like to learn a little more about UltraScape Flowpoint ECO, the grades and colours it is available in and why it has such acclaimed ECO credentials - and most importantly why it's the UK's favourite eco-friendly slurry paving grout, read our recent blog post 'What is Flowpoint' here.

Please note: If you’re using porous stones like sandstone, slate, black/blue limestone, or honed black granite, pre-sealing can help to prevent grout staining. Try ProJoint Pre-Grout Sealer – it’s invisible, easy to apply, and works on all natural stone and concrete paving.

How to Mix & Apply Flowpoint ECO Paving Grout

Follow these ten simple steps to fill paving joints using Flowpoint ECO slurry grout:

  1. Clean the paving slabs and joints, removing debris and any ponded water.
  2. Pre-soak the joints and surfaces with a light spray of water – the area should be damp but not soaked.
  3. Pour the Flowpoint ECO powder into a bucket and add 4.25 litres of water.
  4. Mix with a paddle mixer for 3–5 minutes until smooth and lump-free.
  5. Ensure the area is still damp and immediately apply the grout by pushing it into the joints with a neoprene squeegee. Flowpoint can set in as little as 15 minutes at 20°C, so work quickly but carefully.
  6. Move the grout across the patio to top-up joints where the mortar has sunk.
  7. Use the neoprene squeegee to remove excess grout from the slab surfaces, keeping them damp to prevent hardening.
  8. Clean any hardened grout using a brush and plenty of water, or a sponge machine if preferred.
  9. After approx. 30 minutes (depending on temperature), clean the slabs thoroughly to remove any remaining mortar and prevent staining.
  10. The paving can be walked on after 1 hour and is ready for vehicle traffic after 4 hours.
Flowpoint paving grout from Ultrascape is a rapid-set, cement-based grout for natural stone, porcelain slabs, concrete flags, and granite setts. Its flowable consistency fills joints completely, creating a strong, durable finish lasting 30–40 years. BS 7533 compliant, Flowpoint is suitable for domestic and commercial paving and comes in specialist grades—Standard, Smooth, Fine, Eco, Premium, Premium Smooth, and Porcelpoint—designed for different joint widths, depths, and finishes. For best results, pre-seal slabs with a temporary pre-grout sealer to prevent staining and efflorescence. Mix to a smooth, pourable consistency, apply while surfaces are damp using a squeegee, and clean once touch-dry (15–30 minutes) with a Berta Sponge Machine or Pedalo. Flowpoint supports joint widths from 2–50 mm and depths of 20–200 mm, providing a durable, stain-resistant, professional finish for patios, driveways, and commercial paving.
