One of our major suppliers Instarmac, manufacturers of UltraScape Flowpoint Rapid set grout, has recently been involved in a project at Belgium’s historic fortresss, The Citadelle of Namur.
The Citadelle of Namur is located on a hill that overlooks the joining of the Sambre and Meuse rivers. The fortress is steeped in tradition with ‘millions of years of geological history and 2,000 years of human history’.
With stunningly beautiful views of Namur, visitors to the historic site were given even more reason to visit when cable cars were added in 2021 to the already extensive list of attractions.
It was this area that required a new paving installation, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the panoramic views in all of their splendour.
Why Flowpoint paving grout was chosen
The Citadelle is an incredibly popular tourist attraction. As such, extensive downtime to complete any works around the entrance to the new cable cars and exhibition centre was not possible.
It was therefore critical for the paving to be installed quickly to minimise downtime.
The project also required durable materials that would not only withstand heavy foot traffic but also provide a quality finish that would compliment the historical site and its surroundings.
With over 25 years’ experience supplying major contractors worldwide, Instarmac’s BS 7533 compliant, premium, rapid-setting paving grout, UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth, was specified for use at the Citadelle.
Supplied by Instarmac International’s Belgian partner, Nijst Natuursteen, the flowable paving grout was used to joint 800sqm of paving at the Citadelle.
