Follow these simple steps to achieve a professional, matt stone effect finish with Akemi Flexy-Zem Silicone Filler. Perfect for natural stone, porcelain, ceramic, and manmade tiles, both indoors and outdoors.
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
- Clean & dry: Ensure surfaces are free from dirt, dust, grease, and oil.
- Use joint backing cords: Supports deeper joints and prevents adhesion on three sides.
- Closed-cell polyethylene (PE) for wet rooms or areas with permanent moisture (bathrooms, saunas)
- Open-cell polyurethane (PUR) for outdoor and standard applications
- Minimum joint size: 6 x 6 mm
- Protect edges: Apply tiling masking tape along surfaces flanking the joint to prevent smears.
- Primer: For wet areas, outdoor projects, or special surfaces, apply recommended primers to the joint edges.
- Working temperature: +5°C to +35°C for best performance and curing.
Step 2: Apply the Silicone
- Apply and smooth: Fill joints with Akemi Flexy-Zem Silicone and smooth within 5–10 minutes. For a natural matt finish, smooth while dry without any smoothing agent.
