Over the last few years we’ve been reluctant to pass on increases that we have received in both delivery and product costs. Where we can we have swallowed a lot of the increases (we don’t make any profit from delivery costs, the average pallet costs more to send to you than we charge). However as a small, family business it isn’t sustainable for us and we have unfortunately had to make very small changes to our delivery costs. 

As we know, over the past 12 months, logistics charges in the UK have risen significantly due to a combination of factors. Key among them is the increase in fuel prices, driven by global energy market volatility and geopolitical tensions. This has had a direct impact on transportation costs across the supply chain and means that sending a bag, or a full pallet on a wagon is more expensive than it was 12 months ago. 

Additionally, labour shortages, particularly among HGV drivers, have increased wages in the sector, and inflationary pressures and rising costs for essential services such as warehousing and packaging have compounded the overall increase, contributing to higher costs all round. These challenges have made it more expensive for logistics companies to operate, and these costs are inevitably being passed on to businesses and consumers.
