Application
QC6 a non–shrink concrete designed for the surface reinstatement of ‘picture frames’ or fillets around street ironwork and general repairs to roads and pathways, concrete drives, pavements and surface areas surrounding street furniture. Ideal for reinstatements in town centres and housing estates, where the use of barriers and traffic cones can be eliminated and defects caused by damage or vandalism can be avoided.
Technical
QC6 is supplied pre-blended in 25kg bags and tubs, containing special cements and a 6mm graded aggregate. The product requires only the addition of water to form a high strength rapid setting concrete, which, when set, dries to match most existing concrete surfaces. It can be applied from depths of 12mm to 100mm, depending on application. QC6 should not be used at temperatures below 5°C during application or initial set.
Preparation
Good concrete practice should always be observed to enable the mix to be placed into position within 4 minutes. It is essential that all edges should be saw cut to a minimum depth of 12mm, feather edging is not recommended. All surfaces should be free from oil, grease, dust or any other visible contaminants. Remove all loose particles and work on a sound substrate. Pre-soak the area with clean water prior to application to promote bond and prevent shrinkage, remove ponded water before applying the product.
Priming
Large Section Repairs only:
Ensure the substrate is permanently damp. Remove all ponded water and prime with Ultrascape Pro-Prime, which should be scrubbed well into the substrate. Apply QC6 immediately after mixing ensuring that the primer is still wet.
Mixing
QC6 can be mixed with a forced action mixer or by hand with an appropriate tool. If hand mixing is used, ensure that it is vigorous. 25kg of product will require approximately 2.75 litres of water. A stiff consistent mix with no slump should be achieved, ensuring all particles are well wetted. Mix only enough material to apply within 4 minutes, never remix or add extra water.
Placing
Apply mixed material over a pre–soaked prepared area to a minimum of 10mm and a maximum of 100mm, within 4 minutes. Firm well into position using a float, paying attention to edges and thin sections. Level up to the surface and finish using a steel float or trowel to close up the surface and seal the edges. Curing Small Patches: Curing is not required. Large Section Repairs: Spray the curing agent, Ultra Floor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer, immediately after a surface finish has been achieved. Due to the rapid hardening features of QC6 a generous amount of curing agent must be applied.
