How to Use the Probst AZL-EP 25m Screeding Rails with the EP-UNI
Preparation
- Compact and level the sub-base to the required depth
- Remove any loose debris or large stones from the working area
- Establish the required finished bedding height using string lines, a spirit level or existing reference points such as kerbs or paving edges
Assembling and Positioning the Rails
- Connect the AZL-EP rail sections using the integrated plug-in connectors — no tools required
- Select the required rail section lengths (1.5m, 2.5m or 3.0m) to suit the working area
- Lay the assembled rails parallel to each other at the required spacing for the working width
- Set the rails to the correct height for the bedding layer, checking with a level or string line
- Ensure the rails are stable and secure before screeding begins
Screeding
- Spread bedding material (sand, aggregate or similar) evenly between the rails, slightly overfilling to allow for screeding
- Adjust the EP-UNI telescopic elements to match the rail spacing
- Place the EP-UNI screeding profile onto the rails — the inclined-plane joint profile ensures the wipers pass smoothly over the rail joints without catching
- Pull the EP-UNI steadily along the rails using even pressure and bodyweight through the handle
- Repeat passes as required to achieve a smooth, level finish
After Screeding
- Carefully remove the rails and fill any gaps left in the bedding material
- Proceed with laying paving slabs or blocks onto the screeded surface
- Reposition the rails for the next section and repeat across the full working area
