How to Use the Probst MP-70 Screeding Finisher

  • Prepare the Area: Ensure freshly laid screed is ready for finishing — remove any large debris or obstructions.
  • Hold the Tool Correctly: Grasp the hardwood handle firmly, keeping a comfortable stance for controlled movement.
  • Angle for Desired Effect:
    • For moving material or deeper adjustment, angle the finisher slightly forward so the blade “digs in.”
    • For final smoothing, use a flatter angle so the finisher “floats” over the surface.
  • Work Along Screed Rails: Glide the finisher along screed rails to remove marks and level the base as you progress.
  • Around Gullies & Edges: Use the tool to finish difficult areas such as gullies or edges where larger screeding kits are impractical.
  • Consistent Strokes: Move the tool in steady, overlapping passes to ensure a uniform, smooth finish.
  • Optional Height Adjustment: If using a height adjuster (sold separately), set the desired height before starting to maintain consistent screed depth.
  • Inspect & Adjust: After initial passes, inspect the surface and adjust angles or depth as needed to achieve a smooth, level finish.
The Probst MP-70, also known as the Miniplan MP-70, is a lightweight, 700mm wide handheld aluminium tool designed to efficiently finish, smooth, and rework screeded surfaces. It is especially useful around gullies, edges, and in areas where rail marks need to be removed, providing a level, well-packed sub-base for subsequent works.
