UltraCrete Perma-Soil turns excavated spoil into usable backfill within minutes and increases its load bearing ability, plus it also removes the expense and environmental impact of taking it to landfill. Perma-Soil is quick and efficient to use in situ on site, and contains a red traceable agent to ensure consistent mixing. Perfect for use with small utility excavations, backfilling poles, water metres & tobies, and ideal as a ground stabilising material. UltraCrete Perma-soil meets the requirements of the Utility WRAP Agreement and SMF & SMR of Appendix A9. Most importantly it saves contractors time, money & waste. Technical information
- Can be hand mixed with spoil from a reinstatement before being compacted back into the excavation to provide an adequate backfill material/sub base.
- No special tools or complicated techniques are required.
- As spoil is excavated Perma-Soil is added and left to cure for a short time before reinstatement and compaction.
- Sets quickly, curing 85% within an hour, 100% within 24 hours.
Instructions
- Use 1-2 (25kg-50kg) bags/buckets of Perma-Soil per cubic metre of spoil.
- When soil is saturated with moisture, it is advisable to use two 25kg bags/buckets.
- Adequate moisture is necessary for satisfactory performance.
- Never use less than 25kgs (1 bag/bucket) per cubic metre of soil.
- Wear gloves, dust mask and eye protection during application.
How to mix and apply Perma-Soil
- Place the spoil on a mixing sheet or board, next to the repair site.
- Add and mix Perma-Soil to the soil as it is excavated or while the repair is being made.
- Prior to backfilling sprinkle a small amount of Perma-Soil onto the walls of the excavation.
- Allow 30-60 minutes after mixing before backfilling.
- Compact to 150mm layers as per specification for Highways Works Series 800, Section 802 - Compaction (5-9).
- Add additional stabiliser to the last lift when a stronger surface cap is desired or where heavy traffic is expected.
- The backfill soil stabiliser should be compacted 60mm below the surface in footpaths and 100mm from the surface in type 3 & 4 carriageways.
