How do I apply Joint-It Pro Seal?

Always test a small hidden area before beginning application, do not dilute Joint-It Pro Seal.

Using a low-pressure spray, roller or brush, apply Joint-It Pro Seal to the point of saturation. Ensure application is from bottom to top on vertical surfaces, taking care to not to let the product run. As Joint-It Pro Seal starts to soak into the substrate, just at the point of tackiness add a second coat, if required. Do not allow Joint-It Pro Seal to dry between applications – this is a wet to wet application process. Product will start to work immediately but may take up to 7 days to reach 100% efficacy.

Ensure that you clean all equipment and tools immediately with clean water after you have finished.

Please note on application the temperature must be above 5 and below 30 degrees:

• Substrate temperature must be between 5℃ and 30℃.
• Ambient temperature must be between 5℃ and 30℃.
• Substrate moisture must be less than 5%

Joint-It Pro Seal can be used on paving, paths, roof tiles and walls, its ideal for natural stone, concrete, block paving, brick, paving slabs and tiles with porous surfaces.

We strongly recommend Joint-It Pro Seal for Limestone and Flamed/Honed Black Granite slabs and sets prior to grouting with Joint-It Simple or Joint-It Dynamic. Flamed, honed or Egyptian stone must be sealed both sides prior to applying Joint-It Dynamic or any other jointing material.

Please note that Joint-It Pro Seal is not suitable for non-porous surfaces such as porcelain, and ceramics!

What is Joint-It Pro Seal?

Does Joint-It Pro Seal leave a shiny surface? 

No, Joint-It Pro Seal is invisible and does not change the appearance of the surface.

Do I need to wait a few months to apply Joint-It Pro Seal, to allow any efflorescence to appear? 

No, quite simply there is no reason to wait for months for any efflorescence to come through onto the surface of your brick, tiles, stone or concrete slabs. Once you have applied Joint-It Pro Seal, the water in the sealer draws the efflorescence out of the stone. Once this happens, you can simply brush the salts and efflorescence away. Once the surface is sealed with Joint-It Pro Seal, there will be no moisture drawn through the bed to activate the natural salts, and so efflorescence should not occur again!

How long do I have to wait to Seal my paving slabs with Joint-It Pro Seal?

Joint-it Pro Seal can be used immediately after you have finished grouting your patio or driveway. There is no reason to wait for weeks or months, it is completely breathable so the stone can dry during and after the sealing process.

What is the coverage of Joint-It Pro Seal?

The number of litres you need to cover your patio, driveway, roof tiles or walls depends on the porosity, type and texture of the surface. All surfaces must be treated to saturation, wet-on-wet in 1-3 applications to ensure 100% efficacy of product. As Joint-It Pro Seal starts to soak into the substrate, just at the point of tackiness add a second coat. The volume of Pro Seal you’ll need varies with the substrate. Treating a small hidden area is also recommended to calculate true consumption.

General coverage guidelines: 

• Architectural concrete: 5 m² per Litre
• Block paving: 5-8 m² per Litre
• Porous natural stone (limestone, sandstone, slate): 2-5 m² per Litre
• Low porosity stone (granite, marble, terracotta): 8-16 m² per Litre

How long do you have to wait to walk on Joint-It Pro Seal after application?

As soon as the surface is visibly dry it is safe to walk or drive over, 4 hours is normal in dry conditions.

Can I use Joint-It Pro Seal to seal over an area that has already been pre-sealed previously? 

No, unfortunately all previous coatings and treatments must be removed prior to using Joint-It Pro Seal. Due to the nature of sealers, Joint-It Pro Seal cannot be absorbed into the paving slabs, stone, brick or tiles if there is an existing sealer already on the surface.

As a simple test, if you’re unsure if the surface has been previously treated, pour a steady stream of water onto the surface. If the water absorbs into the surface, there is no sealer present and you can use Joint-It Pro Seal. If the water forms droplets across the surface, this means the substrate contains a sealer and this must be removed prior to applying Joint-It Pro Seal.

Can I use Joint-It Pro Seal if it is raining or rain is expected?

Joint-It Pro Seal cannot be used in the rain, or if rain is expected within 4 hours.
