About the product

Joint-It Dynamic 22KG | Two-Part Resin Paving Jointing System

'The Best All-Round Epoxy Paving Grout for Any Bed Type — Permeable or Non-Permeable, Natural Stone, Concrete or Porcelain. Can Be Applied in the Rain.'

Joint-It Dynamic is one of the best two-part resin paving jointing compounds on the market — an excellent example of a product that genuinely does what it says on the tub. It works on both permeable and non-permeable bases, it loves water (you literally cannot over-water the paving during application), and — unlike most paving grouts — it can be applied in the rain. For anyone jointing a patio in the British climate, that's a genuinely significant advantage. It produces a strong, flexible, cement-free joint that resists weeds, frost and power washing. It's a product our customers consistently come back to tell us they're delighted with: easy to apply, long-lasting, and available in three UV-stable colours — Buff, Grey and Black.

Cement-free, two-part resin-bound system, joints from 5mm wide and 20mm deep, coverage approximately 18m² per 22kg tub, suitable for permeable and non-permeable paving, can be applied in wet weather — Joint-It Dynamic is the professional's choice for natural stone, concrete and porcelain paving on domestic patios, driveways and garden pathways.

We're a small, family-run business — I'm Cleo, the owner, with over 25 years in the construction industry working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. I work alongside a team of incredibly knowledgeable and caring individuals, and between us we've seen a lot of paving jointing compounds come and go. Joint-It Dynamic is the product we reach for when a customer wants a truly versatile, long-lasting resin joint that works on any bed type — and won't be held up by a bit of British drizzle.

If you're jointing natural stone, concrete or porcelain paving and want a strong, flexible, weed-resistant resin joint in Buff, Grey or Black — Joint-It Dynamic is the product we'd confidently recommend. We strongly recommend pre-sealing your paving with Joint-It Pro Seal before application — see the pre-sealing section below for full guidance. If you're unsure which colour or product is right for your project, give us a call.

Joint-It Dynamic is a cement-free, two-component resin-bound paving jointing system. Unlike conventional sweep-in products where you're simply wetting a pre-mixed sand, Joint-It Dynamic initiates a genuine two-component curing reaction by combining resin (Part A) and hardener (Part B) with the coloured aggregate. The result is a non-porous, strong, flexible joint that is resistant to weeds, frost, cracking, shrinking, staining and power washing. Suitable for joints at least 5mm wide and 20mm deep, it works on both permeable and non-permeable paving bases — and because it loves water, it can even be applied in the rain.

Important: Do not use Joint-It Dynamic if the temperature is forecast to drop close to or below freezing within 12 hours of application, or if the temperature is above 30°C. Not suitable for V joints or bevelled slabs. Once Part A and Part B have been mixed with the aggregate, the material cannot be stored or reused.

Minimum Effort, Maximum Results

All you need is a hard brush, a soft brush, water and a paddle mixer. Joint-It Dynamic is designed to be straightforward to apply — no specialist skills required.

What's in the Tub?

Joint-It Dynamic is a three-component system supplied in a single 22kg tub:

  • High-quality coloured aggregate/sand — Buff, Grey or Black, colour-matched for consistency
  • Part A — Resin Binder: provides adhesion and strength, designed to withstand temperature fluctuations
  • Part B — Hardener: initiates the curing reaction when combined with the resin, ensuring rapid setting and hardening

The two liquid components are added to the aggregate immediately before use and mechanically mixed with a paddle mixer. This is an important distinction from conventional sweep-in products — you are initiating a two-component chemical curing reaction, not simply wetting a pre-mixed resin sand.

The Most Important Thing to Know: Water

This is probably the most critical practical characteristic of Joint-It Dynamic, and the one that catches people out most often.

Once mixed, the paving must be absolutely saturated with water throughout the entire application. Not damp. Not lightly misted. Wet. You can continue adding water throughout to aid movement of the material into the joints — it is not possible to add too much water to the paving during application, because the formulation is water-permeable.

This also means that Joint-It Dynamic can be applied in the rain — in fact, a light to moderate rainfall is no problem at all. For anyone working in the UK, where a dry weekend can feel like a lottery, this is a genuinely useful advantage. The product loves water. Heavy rain during the waiting/cleaning period may affect timing, but light rain during application is not an issue.

Think of the application sequence as:

Hose → saturate → mix → hose → brush/squeegee → hose → brush/squeegee → clean → finish

Insufficient water is the most common problem — not too much. If the paving dries out during application, the resin can be drawn into the stone, causing temporary colour enhancement or staining. This will weather off over approximately 12–16 weeks, but it's easily avoided by keeping the paving saturated throughout.

Permeable or Non-Permeable? Joint-It Dynamic Works with Both.

Your paving construction determines the correct jointing compound — and getting this wrong can trap moisture, cause staining, algae, cracking and joint failure. Always ask: "Where is the water going to go?"

  • Permeable paving → water drains through the joints into the ground
  • Non-permeable paving → water must drain across the surface

Joint-It Dynamic is suitable for both bed types — permeable free-draining and non-permeable/impermeable. This makes it one of the best resin grouts for non-permeable paving available, and one of the very few paving grouts for any bed type that genuinely works on both. This is a significant advantage, particularly for porcelain installations on a conventional impermeable bed, where many sweep-in systems cannot be used.

Stone Preparation — Pre-Sealing

Before applying Joint-It Dynamic, we strongly recommend pre-sealing your flags, slabs and paving to avoid any natural impurities being drawn out of the stone by the jointing process. Due to the strength of Joint-It Dynamic, skipping this step on susceptible stone types can result in staining, resin haze or a sticky residue on the surface. In some cases a sticky residue may still appear even after pre-sealing — this should weather off within a few days.

Pre-sealing is recommended for all of the following:

  • Porcelain
  • Limestone
  • Slate
  • Black Granite
  • Flamed Granite
  • Honed Granite
  • Any other porous stone

How to pre-seal: Apply two coats of Joint-It Pro Seal to your dry flags, slabs or paving. Apply the second coat before the first coat has fully dried into the stone. Ensure the sealant is fully dried in before beginning application of Joint-It Dynamic. Flamed, honed or Egyptian stone should be sealed on both sides.

Joint-It Pro Seal remains as a surface protector after jointing, providing ongoing protection for your paving.

Frequently Asked Questions about Joint-It Dynamic

I'm Cleo, owner of The Paving Experts, with over 25 years in the construction industry working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. I work alongside a small team of incredibly knowledgeable and caring individuals who share the same passion for getting it right. The FAQ answers below come from the questions we're asked every single day.

What is Joint-It Dynamic?

Joint-It Dynamic is a two-part resin paving jointing compound made from resin, hardener and high-quality coloured aggregate. It creates a strong, flexible and durable joint for natural stone, concrete and porcelain paving. It works on both permeable and non-permeable bases and can be applied in the rain.

What is the best resin paving grout?

The best resin paving grout depends on the paving, bedding system and intended use. Joint-It Dynamic is one of the most versatile choices because it works on both permeable and non-permeable bases, is suitable for natural stone, concrete and porcelain, and can be applied in wet weather — making it a strong all-round option for UK paving projects.

What is the best paving jointing compound?

The best paving jointing compound depends on the project. Joint-It Dynamic is a strong all-round option for natural stone, concrete and porcelain paving because it works on both permeable and non-permeable bases, can be applied in the rain, and produces a durable, weed-free, frost-resistant joint. If you're not sure which product is right for your paving and bedding system, give us a call — we'll help you choose.

Can you grout paving in the rain?

With most paving grouts, the answer is no — but with Joint-It Dynamic, yes. Because the formulation is water-permeable and the application requires the paving to be kept saturated throughout, light to moderate rainfall during application is not a problem at all. In fact, it's one of the reasons Joint-It Dynamic is such a popular choice with UK contractors and homeowners: you don't need to wait for a dry day. Avoid applying in heavy downpours during the waiting and cleaning stage, as this may affect timing — but for most British weather conditions, Dynamic is good to go.

What paving grout can be applied in the rain?

Joint-It Dynamic is one of the very few resin paving jointing compounds that can be applied in wet weather. Because it requires the paving to be saturated with water throughout application, light to moderate rain is actually no problem — and certainly not a reason to stop work. If you're looking for a paving grout that can be applied in the rain and works on both permeable and non-permeable paving, Joint-It Dynamic is the product we'd recommend.

Can resin paving grout be used in wet weather?

Most resin paving grouts are sensitive to moisture and should not be applied in wet conditions. Joint-It Dynamic is different — it's specifically formulated to work in wet weather, because the application process requires the paving to remain saturated with water throughout. Light to moderate rainfall during grouting is not an issue. It's one of the few resin paving jointing compounds genuinely suitable for use in the British climate, whatever the weather.

What is the best paving jointing compound for wet weather?

In our experience, Joint-It Dynamic is one of the best paving jointing compounds for wet weather conditions. Unlike cement-based or standard sweep-in products that need dry conditions to cure properly, Joint-It Dynamic is a two-part resin system that loves water — the paving must be kept saturated throughout application. Light rain? No problem. It's the product we reach for when a customer needs to get the job done regardless of the British weather.

Can Joint-It Dynamic be applied in the rain?

Yes — and this is one of its most practical advantages for UK conditions. Because Joint-It Dynamic loves water and requires the paving to be saturated throughout application, light to moderate rainfall is no problem at all. You don't need to wait for a dry day to get started. Heavy rain during the waiting or cleaning period may affect timing, but the application itself is rain-friendly. It's one of the reasons contractors and DIYers in the UK rate it so highly — and why we consider it one of the best paving jointing compounds for wet weather use.

Can Joint-It Dynamic be used on non-permeable bedding?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic can be used on non-permeable bedding. This is one of its most significant advantages over many standard brush-in jointing compounds, which are only suitable for permeable bases. Whether your paving is laid on a permeable free-draining bed or a conventional non-permeable/impermeable bed, Joint-It Dynamic works on both — making it one of the best resin grouts for non-permeable paving available. This is particularly useful for porcelain on an impermeable bed, where many sweep-in systems simply cannot be used.

Is Joint-It Dynamic a paving grout suitable for any bed type?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic is one of the very few resin paving grouts suitable for any bed type. It works equally well on permeable paving (where water drains through the joints) and non-permeable paving (where water drains across the surface). If you're unsure which bed type you have, give us a call and we'll help you work it out before you buy.

Can I use Joint-It Dynamic on both permeable and non-permeable paving?

Yes — this is one of Joint-It Dynamic's key advantages. It works on both permeable (free-draining) and non-permeable (impermeable) bases, making it one of the most versatile jointing compounds available. This is particularly significant for porcelain installations on a conventional impermeable bed, where many sweep-in systems cannot be used.

Can Joint-It Dynamic be used with porcelain?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic can be used with porcelain tiles and paving slabs, and it's particularly well-suited to porcelain on non-permeable bases where many sweep-in systems cannot be used. We recommend pre-sealing porcelain with Joint-It Pro Seal before application. Keep both the paving surface and the product saturated with clean water throughout application to help Dynamic flow into the joints more easily.

What is the best resin grout for porcelain paving?

Joint-It Dynamic is one of the best resin grout options for porcelain paving. It can be used on porcelain over both permeable and non-permeable bases — a significant advantage, as many sweep-in systems cannot be used on non-permeable installations. We strongly recommend pre-sealing porcelain with Joint-It Pro Seal before application to help prevent staining, resin haze and surface residue.

Can Joint-It Dynamic be used on natural stone?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic is suitable for natural stone including sandstone, limestone, slate, granite, quartz and other suitable paving. Pre-sealing is recommended for porous and sensitive stones such as limestone, slate, black granite, flamed granite and honed granite. Apply two coats of Joint-It Pro Seal to dry paving before application.

What is the best resin grout for natural stone?

Joint-It Dynamic is one of the most versatile resin grouts for natural stone paving, including sandstone, limestone, slate and granite. It works on both permeable and non-permeable bases and can be applied in the rain — making it a practical choice for most UK natural stone paving projects. For porous or sensitive stone, pre-sealing with Joint-It Pro Seal is recommended to help prevent staining and resin residue.

Can Joint-It Dynamic be used on concrete paving?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic can be used with concrete paving slabs and other suitable manmade paving. It provides a strong, flexible resin joint suitable for patios, paths and driveways. As with all paving types, joints must be a minimum of 5mm wide and 20mm deep and the paving must be firmly bedded before application.

Can you over-water Joint-It Dynamic?

No — you cannot add too much water to the paving during application. The formulation is water-permeable and the paving must remain absolutely saturated throughout. Insufficient water is the more common problem. If the paving dries out, the resin can be drawn into the stone, causing temporary colour enhancement. This will weather off over approximately 12–16 weeks, but it's easily avoided by keeping the paving thoroughly wet throughout application.

How much water do I add to the mix?

Add 2 litres of clean water per 22kg tub, after mixing the resin and hardener into the aggregate. Use the empty Part A and Part B bottles to measure the water — this also rinses any residual resin and hardener from the bottles into the mix. Note: some sources quote up to 4 litres, but 2 litres is the consistently stated manufacturer's standard mixing quantity and is what we recommend.

Do I need to pre-seal my paving before using Joint-It Dynamic?

Yes — we strongly recommend pre-sealing your flags, slabs and paving before applying Joint-It Dynamic, to avoid any natural impurities being drawn out of the stone by the jointing process. Pre-sealing is recommended for porcelain, limestone, slate, black granite, flamed granite, honed granite and any other porous stone. Apply two coats of Joint-It Pro Seal to dry paving, applying the second coat before the first has fully dried into the stone. Ensure the sealant is fully dried in before beginning application of Joint-It Dynamic. Flamed, honed or Egyptian stone should be sealed on both sides.

Can Joint-It Dynamic leave a sticky residue?

In some cases, due to the strength of Joint-It Dynamic, it may leave a sticky residue on the paving surface after application. This should weather off within a few days. Pre-sealing with Joint-It Pro Seal before application significantly reduces the risk of this occurring.

Does Joint-It Dynamic discolour paving slabs?

In some cases, if insufficient water has been used, Joint-It Dynamic can leave a residue that accentuates natural discolouration in the stone. This will weather off within a few weeks (sometimes longer depending on stone type and conditions). There is no need to be concerned — the stone will return to its original colour. To avoid this, keep the paving saturated throughout and pre-seal with Joint-It Pro Seal before application.

Is Joint-It Dynamic weed resistant?

Yes — once cured, Joint-It Dynamic forms a non-porous resin joint designed to resist weed growth. Correct joint preparation and installation are important for long-term performance.

Is Joint-It Dynamic frost resistant?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic is designed to resist frost and temperature fluctuations once fully cured. It also forms a flexible joint designed to resist cracking and shrinking. Do not apply if frost is forecast within 12 hours of application.

Is Joint-It Dynamic power-washer and pressure-washer resistant?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic is designed to resist both power washing and pressure washing once fully cured. We recommend waiting 30 days after installation before using a power washer or pressure washer to ensure the grout has reached full strength.

What temperatures can Joint-It Dynamic be used in?

Do not use Joint-It Dynamic if the temperature is forecast to drop close to or below freezing within 12 hours of application — the water will freeze before the product can cure. In very hot conditions (above 30°C), wait until the cooler evening or early morning, as water will evaporate too quickly to allow you to brush the product into the joints.

When can I walk on the paving and when can I power wash or pressure wash it?

Allow approximately 24 hours before foot traffic — always test the joints before allowing traffic as temperature and weather affect curing. For power washing or pressure washing, allow 30 days from application. Treat 24 hours as initial pedestrian use and 30 days as the full-cure benchmark for maintenance purposes.

What colours does Joint-It Dynamic come in?

Joint-It Dynamic is available in three UV-stable colours: Buff, Grey and Black. The colour of the lid on the bucket denotes the colour of the product inside.

How much does Joint-It Dynamic cover?

A single 22kg tub covers approximately 18m² — but this is a nominal figure. Joint width, depth and slab dimensions have a very large effect on actual consumption. Wider or deeper joints will reduce coverage significantly.

Is Joint-It Dynamic suitable for driveways?

Yes — Joint-It Dynamic is suitable for very high traffic areas including driveways. The paving and underlying construction must be suitably designed and installed for the expected vehicle loading. Joints must be a minimum of 5mm wide and 20mm deep. Allow approximately 24 hours before foot traffic and 30 days before power washing or pressure washing.

Is Joint-It Dynamic suitable for V joints?

No — Joint-It Dynamic is not suitable for V joints or bevelled slabs.

Can I store leftover mixed Joint-It Dynamic?

No — once Part A and Part B have been mixed with the aggregate, the material cannot be stored or reused. Mix only what you can apply in one session. Unopened tubs have a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored in a cool, dry place.

Joint-It Dynamic vs Joint-It Simple

Joint-It Dynamic is a two-part resin system designed for both permeable and non-permeable bases, with a minimum 5mm joint width. Joint-It Simple is a ready-to-use brush-in product designed for permeable bases only and requires no mixing. Dynamic is the more versatile choice where a two-part resin system or non-permeable installation is required. Not sure which is right for you? Get in touch or call 0330 122 1025.

Joint-It Dynamic vs traditional pointing

Joint-It Dynamic is a two-part resin system that creates a strong, flexible and non-porous joint. Unlike traditional cement pointing, it is designed to resist weeds, frost, cracking and power washing once cured. It is particularly useful where a durable, low-maintenance resin joint is required — and unlike cement mortar, it can be applied in wet weather and won't shrink or crack in freeze-thaw conditions.

Joint-It Dynamic vs resin jointing compound

Joint-It Dynamic is itself a resin-based paving jointing compound, but it uses a two-part resin and hardener system that chemically cures after mixing. This provides a stronger, more flexible and more durable joint than many single-component resin products, and allows Dynamic to be used on both permeable and non-permeable paving bases — something many standard resin jointing compounds cannot offer.

What maintenance does Joint-It Dynamic need?

Joint-It Dynamic is low maintenance, but all patios benefit from some annual attention — particularly in shaded areas or after winter. Allow 30 days before power washing or pressure washing. A regular clean with a suitable patio cleaner will keep your joints looking fresh.

If you'd like to know more about Joint-It Dynamic, which colour is right for your paving, or whether it's the right product for your project — don't hesitate to get in touch or call us on 0330 122 1025. We're always happy to help.

How to Apply Joint-It Dynamic — Step by Step

Before you begin — check the conditions:

  • Do not apply if the temperature is forecast to drop close to or below freezing within 12 hours.
  • Do not apply if the temperature is above 30°C — wait for cooler conditions (early morning or evening).
  • Not suitable for V joints or bevelled slabs.
  • Joints must be a minimum of 5mm wide and 20mm deep.
  • Paving must be firmly bedded, stable and appropriately supported for its intended loading before jointing.

What you'll need:

  • Essential: Hard-bristle brush, soft-bristle brush, clean water supply/hose, paddle mixer
  • Useful: Neoprene/rubber squeegee (particularly helpful on smooth stone such as granite), finishing bar or trowel, leaf blower (for removing dust and debris from joints before application)

Step 1 — Pre-Seal Your Paving

We strongly recommend pre-sealing your flags, slabs and paving before applying Joint-It Dynamic, to avoid any natural impurities being drawn out of the stone by the jointing process. Pre-sealing is recommended for porcelain, limestone, slate, black granite, flamed granite, honed granite and any porous stone.

  1. Ensure paving is clean, dry and free from dust and debris. Use a leaf blower to clear joints if needed.
  2. Apply two coats of Joint-It Pro Seal to dry paving. Apply the second coat before the first coat has fully dried into the stone.
  3. Ensure the sealant is fully dried in before beginning application of Joint-It Dynamic.
  4. Flamed, honed or Egyptian stone must be sealed on both sides.

Step 2 — Mixing

  1. Remove the lid and take out both bottles (Part A Resin and Part B Hardener).
  2. Add both bottles to the aggregate/sand inside the bucket.
  3. Mix thoroughly with a paddle mixer for 3 minutes until the resin and hardener are completely distributed throughout the aggregate.
  4. Add 2 litres of clean water. Use the empty Part A and Part B bottles to measure the water — this also rinses any residual resin and hardener from the bottles into the mix.
  5. The product is now ready to apply. Once mixed, it cannot be stored or reused — apply immediately.

Step 3 — Application

  1. Thoroughly saturate the paving with water using a hose. The paving must remain absolutely wet throughout the entire application — not damp, not misted: wet. You cannot add too much water to the paving during application.
  2. Using a hard-bristle brush or neoprene squeegee, work the grout aggressively across the wet surface and into the joints. Additional water can be added at any point to improve flow.
  3. Ensure all joints are completely filled to the top while the paving remains saturated.
  4. Wait for the correct time before cleaning — this is temperature dependent:
    • 3–15°C: wait 15–30 minutes
    • Above 15°C: wait 10–15 minutes
Do not leave the resin aggregate sitting on the surface until it has started curing hard.
  5. Using a soft-bristle brush at approximately 45° to the joints, sweep the excess material from the paving surface without pulling material out of the joints.
  6. Inspect every joint — top up any low areas and remove remaining surface particles.
  7. For a smoother, more traditional pointed finish, strike the joints using a finishing bar or trowel. Ensure joints remain filled to the top after tooling.
  8. Clean all tools with plenty of soapy water immediately after use.

Step 4 — Curing & Trafficking

  • Foot traffic: approximately 24 hours. Always test the joints before allowing traffic — temperature and weather affect curing time.
  • Power washing: allow 30 days from application before power washing.
  • Extreme weather conditions may affect curing time.

Important Tips

  • You cannot over-water the paving during application — insufficient water is the more common problem. Keep the hose running and the paving saturated throughout.
  • On large areas or in warm weather, work in sections to prevent any area drying out before you brush in the product.
  • In some cases, due to the strength of Joint-It Dynamic, a sticky residue may appear on the paving surface after application. This should weather off within a few days.
  • If colour enhancement appears on the stone after application, this will weather off within approximately 12–16 weeks.
  • Once Part A and Part B have been mixed with the aggregate, the material cannot be stored or reused.
  • Not suitable for V joints or bevelled slabs.
