How the Big Spin Hurricane System Works

Big Spin Hurricane is a two-part mechanical tile levelling system. The threaded base slides under the tile edge; the cap threads onto the base and is spun down by hand until adjacent tile surfaces are brought into perfect alignment. No wedges. No specialist pliers. No tools beyond your standard installation kit.

Slide the base. Position the tile. Spin the cap. Leave to cure. Kick off the base. Store the cap. Repeat.

The cap is the part you keep. After the adhesive cures, kick the bases off in the direction of the grout joint, unscrew the caps, clean off any adhesive residue, and store them in the tub for the next job. Protection Plates — Do I Need Them?

The optional Big Spin Hurricane protection plates (PPC178) sit between the cap and the tile surface during installation. We'd particularly recommend them on polished, gloss or high-value surfaces — marble, polished porcelain, honed limestone — where direct cap-to-tile contact during levelling could leave a mark or scratch the finish. How to Use Big Spin Hurricane Replacement Caps

1. Spread tile adhesive over the surface in the usual way.
2. Slide the threaded base underneath the edge of the tile until it sits flush against the tile face. Use 4 bases per standard square tile (one at each corner); use 6 for larger-format tiles or planks.
3. Lay the adjacent tile into position.
4. Place the cap (BSHC177) onto the threaded base and spin it down by hand until both tile surfaces are brought into alignment and flush with each other. For polished surfaces, fit the protection plate (PPC178) between the cap and the tile first.
5. Continue across the installation. The system holds tiles in place while the adhesive cures overnight, eliminating slumping, sinkage and lippage.
6. Once the adhesive has fully cured, remove the bases by kicking them off with your foot or using a rubber mallet in the direction of the grout joint.
7. Unscrew the caps, clean off any adhesive residue, and store them in the tub — ready for the next job.

Clean the cap before the adhesive cures to make removal easier and extend the working life of the cap.
