About the product

Flowpoint Fine Rapid Set Paving Grout - Natural Grey

“Best Paving Grout for Porcelain Tiles & Narrow Joint Widths”

New to the market, UltraScape Flowpoint Fine Natural Grey Paving Grout is a fast setting slurry grout that comes in a 20KG tub, it fills joints from 2-50mm and has a flowable, easy pour and apply consistency, that starts to set in just 15 minutes. Unlike Flowpoint Standard, Smooth or ECO that have a visible aggregate, Flowpoint Fine has a super smooth finish with no visible aggregate.

Flowpoint Fine is ideal for all commercial paved areas or domestic patios where a rigid or bound void-free joint is required. Ideal for applications on driveways, patios, town centre pedestrian schemes, pathways and carriageways - and perfect for projects where early trafficking is needed, it also conforms to the strict demands of BS 7533. UltraScape Flowpoint Fine can be used with natural stone, concrete flags, porcelain tiles and clay pavers.

Flowpoint Fine is also the perfect patio paving grout for creating a modern inside outside look. This easy apply, rapid-set, cement based exterior patio grout replicates the look of a super smooth finish, internal tiling grout, so for anyone wanting to create seamless flooring between their kitchen or conservatory and their garden, Flowpoint Fine is ideal.

Unlike traditional paving grouts, Flowpoint Fine is slurry grout, it's faster to apply, less labour intensive and much kinder on your knees than traditional methods. Simply mixed with water, Flowpoint Fine produces a flowable mixture that is simply poured across the slabs, squeegeed into the joints, and cleaned down to reveal strong, durable, weed free joints that can last up to 40 years without needing to reapply.

What is Flowpoint Fine?

UltraScape Flowpoint Fine is a rapid set slurry paving grout, designed for paving that requires super fine joints from just 2mm, and especially favoured by landscaping contractors because it's fast to apply and conforms to the strict demands of the British Standard BS 7533. Flowpoint Fine is ideal for all paving areas where a rigid or bound void-free joint is needed, and early trafficking is required. Created with porcelain in mind, Flowpoint Fine grout offers a sleek look and smooth joints – due to the extremely fine texture and high fluid consistency of the mortar. Available in Charcoal and Natural Grey, it is the flowable grout to use when you have smaller joint widths (between 2mm and 50mm wide).

Gareth Wilson's expert tip for washing Flowpoint Grout from your slabs!

"As with other Flowpoint grades, be patient and hold your nerve so you don’t wash the product off too soon. Too many contractors start washing off when the product starts to dry on the slabs. You need to keep the slabs damp with a mist of water so it doesn’t go off on them too soon. Always make sure Flowpoint Fine is set in the joint before washing it off. Keep your eye on the firmness of the joint, just with a little thumb test. Once firm, then begin washing off."

How do I use Flowpoint Fine?

This handy reel, from a friend and one of our customers David, at Urban Canopy of Derbyshire; on Facebook, will show you how to lay Flowpoint, and give you some handy hints and tips. This video is for standard Flowpoint, but the same principles apply for Flowpoint Fine - just remember the water content differs between Standard Flowpoint and Flowpoint Fine; the water required for Flowpoint Fine is 3.4 litres per 20kg.

Why does the number of tubs of Flowpoint Fine needed to complete my patio vary?

The number of tubs of Flowpoint Fine Paving Grout needed for your patio can vary due to several factors:

  • Joint Size (Width & Depth) – Wider and deeper joints require more grout to fill the gaps. Narrower or shallower joints will use less material.
  • Paving Stone Size & Thickness – Larger slabs mean fewer joints, so you’ll use less Flowpoint. Smaller pavers with more joints will need more.
  • Coverage Efficiency – Uneven surfaces or irregular-shaped stones can increase grout usage compared to uniform, machine-cut pavers.
  • Wastage & Spillover – Some material may be lost due to washing off excess grout, accidental spills, or overuse during application. We recommend using a neoprene squeegee as it’ll get the majority of the grout scraped into the joints meaning less wastage on clean up!
  • Substrate Absorption – If the surface absorbs moisture quickly, it might affect how much Flowpoint you need to keep the joints filled properly.

If you provide your joint dimensions, paving area, and stone size, The Paving Experts team can help calculate the exact number of tubs you’ll need! Alternatively, we have a handy calculator on every Flowpoint page. 😊

How do you mix and apply Flowpoint Fine?

  1. Prepare an area for excess grout
Ensure you have somewhere to push any excess slurry grout, such as an area of lifted grass. Never push excess Flowpoint into drains — it is rapid-setting and will create a permanent blockage.
  2. Clean your paving
Check that paving slabs and joints are free from dirt, debris, and pooled water. If necessary, use a leaf blower to remove water.
  3. Dampen the paving
Spray slabs and joints with water so they are damp but not flooded.
  4. Add water to the tub
Pour 3.4 litres of clean water into a bucket, then add the Flowpoint Fine Paving Grout from the tub.
  5. Mix thoroughly
Use a paddle mixer or mix by hand for 3–5 minutes until the grout is smooth and lump-free.
  6. Check slab dampness & apply
Ensure the paving slabs remain damp (mist lightly if needed), then immediately push the Flowpoint into the joints using a neoprene rubber squeegee.
  7. Monitor temperature
Flowpoint sets within 15 minutes at 20°C. In hotter temperatures it sets faster, in colder weather more slowly. Remember, surface temperature of slabs may be higher than air temperature, so keep an eye on grout setting.
  8. Top up joints
Move the Flowpoint grout across the surface to refill joints where the mortar may have settled.
  9. Remove excess grout
Use a rubber squeegee to remove as much paving grout from the slab surfaces as possible. Keep slabs misted to prevent grout from hardening prematurely.
  10. Clean hardened grout
Use a brush with water — or a pressure washer / sponge machine — to remove any grout that has hardened on the paving surfaces.
  11. Final wash
After about 30 minutes (check with finger or thumb), clean the surface to remove any remaining mortar spots and prevent staining. Repeat washing with clean water as necessary.
  12. Allow to cure
Once clean and dry, the patio can be walked on after 1 hour and accepts vehicles after 4 hours.
Flowpoint paving grout from Ultrascape is a rapid-set, cement-based grout for natural stone, porcelain slabs, concrete flags, and granite setts. Its flowable consistency fills joints completely, creating a strong, durable finish lasting 30–40 years. BS 7533 compliant, Flowpoint is suitable for domestic and commercial paving and comes in specialist grades—Standard, Smooth, Fine, Eco, Premium, Premium Smooth, and Porcelpoint—designed for different joint widths, depths, and finishes. For best results, pre-seal slabs with a temporary pre-grout sealer to prevent staining and efflorescence. Mix to a smooth, pourable consistency, apply while surfaces are damp using a squeegee, and clean once touch-dry (15–30 minutes) with a Berta Sponge Machine or Pedalo. Flowpoint supports joint widths from 2–50 mm and depths of 20–200 mm, providing a durable, stain-resistant, professional finish for patios, driveways, and commercial paving.
