About the product
Ultrascape Flowpoint Standard – Charcoal
“Rapid-Set, External Paving Grout for Stone, Granite Setts & Impermeable Beds – Lasts +30 Years”
Ultrascape Flowpoint Charcoal is a fast-setting, flowable grout for natural stone, porcelain, and concrete. It sets in just 15 minutes, resists weeds, works in light rain, and offers up to 40 years of durability, meeting BS 7533. For the best finish, use a neoprene squeegee for quick, clean, stain-free application.
Supplied in 25kg bags. Coverage depends on slab and joint size (use our calculator for a precise estimate):
- Natural Stone (mixed pack): 1 bag ≈ 12–20m²
- Granite setts: 1 bag ≈ 1.5–2m²
Do I need to pre-seal my paving?
If you’re using very porous stones like slate, black granite, or some softer natural stones, pre-sealing protects against efflorescence, grout haze, and staining, making clean-up quick and easy. Recommended products: Tile Rite Patio Prep or ProJoint Pre-Grout Sealer. Both are invisible, easy to apply, and suitable for all natural stone, porcelain, and concrete paving.

How long does Flowpoint last?
When applied correctly, Flowpoint slurry paving grout can last beyond 20 years without the need to grout the paving again.
How long does Flowpoint take to set?
After mixing, Flowpoint external paving grout can take as little as 15 minutes to set (temperature is 20oC). However, as a rule of thumb - the hotter the temperature, the faster Flowpoint will set, in colder temperatures it'll take a little longer for Flowpoint to set.
Is Flowpoint grout permeable?
No, Flowpoint is non-permeable, cementitious-based grout - meaning it doesn’t allow water to pass through it once set.
Can You Use Flowpoint on Concrete Slabs?
Yes — Flowpoint rapid-setting flowable grout is ideal for concrete slabs and a wide range of paving projects. Trusted by professionals for both domestic and commercial paving, Flowpoint delivers a durable, fast-setting jointing solution. How many bags of Flowpoint Paving Grout will I need for my patio?
There isn’t an exact number of Flowpoint bags needed per square metre, it depends on the size of your slabs, the width & depth of the joints, and the total square meters of your patio.
As a general rule, for larger format paving slabs 600mm x 900mm; with joints 5mm x 20mm you'll use one bag of Flowpoint per 30m2. For a mixed project pack of sandstone slabs you'll need approximately one bag per 10-15m2, granite setts & irregular cobbles use more Flowpoint due to their size and depth - you'll typically need one bag per 1.5-2m2.
To more accurately determine how many bags of Flowpoint you’ll need, a few details are needed -
- Joint width (mm): The space between the paving slabs or stones.
- Joint depth (mm): How deep the joints are.
- Paving area (m²): The total area to be grouted.
Once these details are known, we can calculate the approximate number of 25KG bags required. Let us know, and we’ll work it out for you! 😊 Alternatively, you’ll find a handy calculator on every Flowpoint page on The Paving Experts website.

How to Mix & Apply Flowpoint Standard – Charcoal
- Ensure paving slabs and joints are clean and free from debris or standing water.
- Pre-soak slabs and joints with water so they are damp, but not saturated.
- Pour one 25kg bag of Flowpoint into a bucket and add 4.25 litres of water.
- Mix for 3–5 minutes until smooth and lump-free.
- Apply immediately while the area is damp, carefully pushing Flowpoint into the joints using a rubber squeegee. Note: Flowpoint can set in as little as 15 minutes at 20°C, so work efficiently.
- Move the grout across the surface to top-up any joints where the mortar has settled.
- Use a neoprene squeegee to remove excess grout, keeping surfaces damp to prevent premature hardening.
- Clean any hardened grout from the surface using a brush with plenty of water, or alternatively a pressure washer or sponge machine.
- After approx. 30 minutes, once the mortar is dry, thoroughly clean the surface to prevent staining.
- Paving is ready for foot traffic after 1 hour and vehicular traffic after 4 hours.
