Use Flowpoint grout with:

  • Granite setts (usage around 1 bag per 1.5 Square Mtrs on average needed)

  • Limestone (not dark limestone)
  • Porcelain
  • Indian Stone
  • Yorkstone
  • Concrete slabs

(Not ideal with some darker limestone such as black limestone, can lead to slight oxidisation).

What is Flowpoint Paving Grout?

Flowpoint is a fast-setting, cement-based paving grout for outdoor use on patios, terraces, pavements, and paving slabs. It’s applied using a simple slurry method—just mix with water for 3–5 minutes, pour, spread with a neoprene squeegee, and clean off.

Once set, Flowpoint forms a durable, non-permeable finish that blocks weeds and water. It sets in 30 minutes, is walkable in an hour, and ready for vehicle traffic in 4 hours (depending on conditions). Always apply on a solid, non-permeable bed.

How do I use Flowpoint?

This handy reel on Facebook will show you how to lay Flowpoint, and give you some handy hints and tips. Click here for a video on how to lay Flowpoint Paving Grout.

What are the key things I need to know about Flowpoint Paving Grout?

  • Suitable for natural stone, concrete, and porcelain
  • Joint widths: from 2mm (grade-dependent)
  • Joint depths: 20mm to 200mm
  • Lasts up to 40 years without re-grouting
  • BS 7533 compliant
  • Shelf life: 8 months (unopened)

Did you know that Flowpoint is now available in 8 Grades, and 4 colours?

How long does Flowpoint Grout last?

When applied correctly, Flowpoint slurry paving grout can last beyond 30-40 years without the need to grout the paving again.

How long does Flowpoint Grout take to cure & set?

Flowpoint rapid-setting paving grout typically takes about 30 minutes to set and can be walked on within one hour under normal conditions. However, the full curing time depends on several factors, including temperature, humidity, and the specific formulation used. In general, at 20 degrees Flowpoint reaches its full strength within 24 to 48 hours, though it may continue to gain additional strength over several days. In colder (click link for our article on grouting in colder temperatures) or wetter conditions, curing may take longer, while warmer temperatures can accelerate the process (click the link for more info). Proper curing ensures durability and long-term performance, making it crucial to follow manufacturer guidelines for optimal results.

Is Flowpoint Grout permeable?

No, Flowpoint is non-permeable, cementitious-based grout - meaning it doesn’t allow water to pass through it once set.

How Much Flowpoint Grout Do I Need for My Patio?

When planning a patio project, knowing how much Flowpoint paving grout you’ll need is essential. UltraScape Flowpoint is a rapid set, flowable paving grout designed for patios and all types of paving slabs including, natural stone, concrete slabs, and granite setts.

Easy to mix with water, Flowpoint has an initial set of 15-30 minutes (dept on temp), provides up to 40 years of durability, and meets the vital British Standard - BS 7533. Its non-permeable finish helps prevent weeds, works even in light rain, and ensures a professional, long-lasting patio finish. Available in Natural Grey, Charcoal and new Premium in Stone Grey & Limestone.

Flowpoint Approximate Coverage Guide (per 25kg bag)

  • Natural Stone Mixed Packs: ≈ 12–20m²
  • Granite Setts: ≈ 1.5–2m²

👉 For the most accurate calculation, use The Paving Expert’s Flowpoint Calculator on the product page to estimate coverage for your exact paving size and joint width.

Can you use Flowpoint Grout in the rain?

Yes, you can use Flowpoint in light rain but ensure the paving joints don't fill up with rainwater. Applying Flowpoint on a damp day can actually be beneficial, because it can stop the wet slurry from setting too quickly.

Will Flowpoint Grout Stain My Paving?

Flowpoint Paving Grout is designed to be stain-free and resistant to efflorescence—provided it’s applied correctly and in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Staining is not a fault of the product, but typically a result of installation errors. Common causes include:

  • Skipping a paving primer like Ultrascape Pro-Prime
  • Not lightly misting the slabs with water during application
  • Over-watering the grout mix, or leaving water sitting on the surface or in the joints

These issues can lead to grout haze, surface staining, or uneven color patches—which can be very difficult to clean once set.

How to Avoid Staining with Flowpoint

Keep your paving looking its best with these simple best practices:

1. Prime before you grout

Use a high-quality primer such as Ultrascape Pro-Prime to help the paving bond to the mortar bed and block any moisture or stains from migrating through.

2. Keep slabs misted

Throughout the grouting process, lightly mist your slabs using a garden hose with a rose head or a spray bottle. This prevents premature drying and surface residue.

3. Watch your water

Avoid adding too much water to the grout mix, and don’t let water collect on the surface or in the joints. Too much water can result in cracking, staining, and a patchy finish.

4. Use the right tools

Apply the grout with a neoprene squeegee to push the material deep into the joints while clearing excess from the slab surface.

Final Word

Flowpoint doesn’t cause staining when used correctly.
Following proper installation steps will ensure a clean, consistent finish—free from haze, residue, or discolouration.

What is the Shelf Life for Flowpoint Slurry Paving Grout?

Shelf life from date of manufacture printed on the bag, unopened in the above conditions, for sealed bags is 8 months. Please note: the use of this product after the end of the declared storage period may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.

How to Mix & Apply Flowpoint Standard Grout

Follow these simple steps to achieve a clean, durable finish:

  1. Ensure paving slabs and joints are free from debris and standing water.
  2. Pre-soak the slabs and joints with water so they are damp but not saturated.
  3. Pour one 25kg bag of Flowpoint into a bucket and add 4.25 litres of water.
  4. Mix for 3–5 minutes until smooth and lump-free.
  5. Keep the area damp and immediately push the grout into the joints using a rubber squeegee. Flowpoint can set in as little as 15 minutes at 20°C, so work carefully and promptly.
  6. Move the grout across the surface to top-up any joints where mortar has sunk.
  7. Use a neoprene squeegee to remove excess grout, keeping surfaces damp to prevent premature hardening.
  8. Clean any hardened grout from the slabs using a brush with plenty of water, or a pressure washer/sponge machine.
  9. After approx. 30 minutes, clean the surface thoroughly to remove residual mortar and prevent staining.
  10. The paving is ready to walk on after 1 hour and can take vehicular traffic after 4 hours.
Flowpoint paving grout by Ultrascape is a rapid-set, cement-based external grout designed for jointing natural stone paving, porcelain slabs, concrete flags, and granite setts. Its flowable consistency allows it to pour easily into joints, fully filling voids before setting hard to create a strong, durable finish. Engineered for long-term performance and compliant with BS 7533 standards for pavement construction, Flowpoint can provide a service life of 30–40 years when installed correctly, making it suitable for both domestic and commercial projects. The grout sets quickly, can be used in light rain, forms impermeable joints that allow surface water to drain away, helps reduce weed growth, and is suitable for joint widths from 2mm to 50mm and depths from 20mm up to 200mm, making it ideal for patios, pathways, courtyards, driveways, and impermeable bedding systems.
