- Shelf life: 8 months from the date of manufacture (printed on the bucket) if unopened and stored correctly. Using the product after this period may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
How Do You Mix and Apply Flowpoint Fine?
- Ensure you have somewhere to push excess slurry grout, such as an area of lifted grass. Never push excess Flowpoint into drains — it is a rapid-setting grout and will create a permanent blockage.
- Check that paving slabs and joints are free from dirt, debris, and pooled water. If needed, use a leaf blower to remove water.
- Spray slabs and joints with clean water so they are damp, but not flooded.
- Add 3.4 litres of clean water into a bucket, then pour in the bag of Flowpoint Fine Paving Grout from the tub.
- Mix with a paddle mixer or by hand for 3–5 minutes until smooth and lump-free.
- Ensure paving slabs are still damp. If not, mist lightly, then immediately apply the grout using a neoprene rubber squeegee, carefully pressing the Flowpoint into the joints.
- Monitor temperature closely — Flowpoint sets within 15 minutes at 20°C. Hotter weather accelerates setting; cooler temperatures slow it down. Remember paving surfaces can be hotter than air temperature.
- Move the grout across the paving surface to top up any joints where the mortar has settled.
- Once joints are full, use a rubber squeegee to remove excess grout from slab surfaces. Keep slabs misted to prevent the grout from hardening.
- Use a brush with a little water, or alternatively a pressure washer or sponge machine, to remove any hardened grout from the paving surface.
- After ~30 minutes, when the mortar has partially set (do a finger/thumb test), clean the paving surface to remove spots and prevent staining. Repeat with clean water as needed.
- Once clean and dry, the patio is walkable after 1 hour and can take vehicular traffic after 4 hours.
