Joint-It Manual Application Gun – The Easy Way to Apply Epoxy Grout

The Simple, Cleaner Way to Apply Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout

Applying epoxy grout doesn't have to be messy or difficult.

The Joint-It Manual Application Gun is designed specifically for use with Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout 400ml dual cartridges, giving homeowners, landscapers and paving professionals a simple and controlled way to apply epoxy grout directly into paving joints.

Instead of spreading grout across the surface and dealing with messy cement slurry and wash-off, the manual gun allows you to apply the epoxy grout directly into the joint, helping you achieve a cleaner, more controlled installation.

Soak Tubes 30 mins → Wax → Gun Apply → Set → Tool → Scrape → Done.

What Is the Joint-It Manual Application Gun?

The Joint-It Manual Application Gun is a 400ml twin-tube cartridge gun designed to work with Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout.

Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout is a two-part epoxy paving grout developed for outdoor porcelain paving, ceramic tiles and smooth stone. It is designed for 1–5mm wide joints with a minimum depth of 10mm.

The two parts of the epoxy grout are held separately within the cartridge and are mixed automatically through the application nozzle as the product is dispensed.

The manual gun provides the pressure needed to push the two-part grout through the nozzle and directly into the paving joint.

Why Use a Manual Gun With Joint-It Epoxy Grout?

The biggest advantage is control.

Rather than applying grout across the entire surface of your paving, the manual gun allows you to put the product exactly where you need it — directly into the joint.

Less Mess

Joint-It Epoxy is applied directly into the joints, meaning there is no traditional cement slurry or messy wash-off process. Excess grout can be scraped away once it has set.

Easy to Use

The manual application gun is a straightforward option for homeowners, DIYers, smaller patios, repairs and detailing work.

Controlled Application

The gun allows you to apply the grout slowly and evenly, helping you control the amount of product going into each joint.

Ideal for Smaller Projects

The manual gun is particularly useful for:

  • Smaller patios
  • Garden paths
  • Repairs and detailing
  • Touch-ups
  • Small paving projects
  • DIY installations

For larger patios and continuous professional applications, an electric application gun may be more suitable.

What Is Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout?

Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout is a high-strength, two-part epoxy paving grout designed for outdoor porcelain paving, ceramic tiles and smooth stone.

It creates a hard-wearing, waterproof and non-permeable joint and is designed to provide a cleaner alternative to traditional cement-based external grouting.

Joint-It is:

  • Designed for 1–5mm joints
  • Suitable for joints at least 10mm deep
  • Waterproof
  • Non-permeable
  • Non-staining
  • Anti-mildew
  • UV resistant
  • Colour fast
  • Designed for 10+ years of low-maintenance performance
  • Available in Grey, Raven and Tan

It is particularly well suited to the 2mm and 3mm joints commonly used with contemporary porcelain paving.

How to Use the Manual Gun With Joint-It Epoxy Grout

Using the manual application gun is straightforward.

1. Prepare Your Paving

Before you start, make sure the paving is clean, dry and securely laid, with no movement in the slabs.

Joint-It should be applied between 5°C and 25°C, and the paving must remain dry during the relevant initial application stages.

Your joints should be:

1–5mm wide and at least 10mm deep.

2. Prepare the Joint-It Cartridge

Before application, place the Joint-It cartridge tubes in warm water for approximately 30 minutes.

Remove the twist cap and attach the supplied application nozzle.

Cut the nozzle at approximately 45°, adjusting the opening to suit the joint width.

3. Apply Joint-It Anti Bonding Wax

For the cleanest finish, use Joint-It Anti Bonding Wax before grouting.

Apply a decent amount of the wax to the paving along both sides of the joint. It creates a barrier between the epoxy and the paving, making the excess grout easier to remove once it has set.

4. Load the Manual Gun

Insert the prepared 400ml Joint-It dual cartridge into the manual application gun.

Make sure the cartridge is seated securely before you begin.

The Joint-It cartridge contains Part A and Part B, which remain separate until they pass through the application nozzle.

5. Activate the Epoxy

Before applying the grout to your paving, squeeze out approximately the first 2cm of product and discard it.

This ensures the two components have mixed correctly and that the epoxy grout has activated.

6. Gun the Grout Into the Joint

Place the nozzle directly over the joint and slowly squeeze the manual gun.

Apply the epoxy grout evenly along the joint, allowing enough product to sit slightly proud of the paving surface.

The aim is to fill the joint completely, rather than trying to wipe the grout across the surface.

7. Allow the Grout to Set

Leave the Joint-It epoxy grout for approximately 10–15 minutes to begin setting.

Once the grout has started to firm up, it can be finished using the appropriate finishing tool.

8. Tool the Joint

Use a suitable finishing tool ideally with a ball end to smooth and shape the joint.

For a professional-looking finish, work carefully and consistently along the joint.

9. Scrape Away the Excess

Once the grout is hard to the touch, use a suitable blade or grout scraper to remove the excess from the paving surface.

If the grout is still sticky or difficult to scrape cleanly, it isn't ready yet. Simply allow it to harden further before removing the excess.

This is one of the major benefits of the Joint-It system — there's no frantic cement wash-off process.

What Paving Can Joint-It Epoxy Grout Be Used On?

Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout is designed for smooth paving surfaces where a finishing tool or scraper can be pulled smoothly across the top of the paving.

It is suitable for:

  • Outdoor porcelain paving
  • Porcelain patio slabs
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Smooth natural stone
  • Smooth manufactured stone
  • Garden paths
  • Terraces
  • Outdoor kitchens
  • Residential landscaping
  • Professional paving projects

It is not suitable for rough, uneven, bevelled or hand-cut paving edges where excess epoxy cannot be smoothly removed.

Manual or Electric Epoxy Grout Gun?

Both guns are designed to apply Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout, but they suit different types of projects.

Manual Application Gun

Best for:

  • Homeowners
  • DIY projects
  • Smaller patios
  • Repairs
  • Touch-ups
  • Detailing
  • Smaller paving areas

The manual gun gives you a simple, cost-effective way to apply Joint-It without investing in an electric gun.

Electric Application Gun

Best for:

  • Large patios
  • Large landscaping projects
  • Professional paving contractors
  • Commercial installations
  • Continuous application

For larger areas, an electric gun can make the application process faster and reduce the effort required.

What Do You Need?

To apply Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout, you'll need:

  1. Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout 400ml cartridge
  2. Joint-It Manual Application Gun
  3. Supplied application nozzle
  4. Joint-It Anti Bonding Wax
  5. Finishing tool
  6. Suitable grout scraper or sharp blade

The manual gun is sold separately from the Joint-It epoxy grout cartridge.

A Cleaner Way to Grout Porcelain Paving

If you've ever used traditional cement-based paving grout, you'll know that the clean-up can sometimes be the most frustrating part of the job.

Joint-It takes a different approach.

The epoxy grout is applied directly into the joint using the gun, allowed to set, tooled and then scraped clean.

There is no cement slurry and no frantic wash-off process, making it a cleaner and more controlled way to grout outdoor porcelain paving.

Apply. Set. Scrape. Done.

Manual Application Gun

Best for:

  • Homeowners
  • DIY projects
  • Smaller patios
  • Repairs
  • Touch-ups
  • Detailing
  • Smaller paving areas

The manual gun gives you a simple, cost-effective way to apply Joint-It without investing in an electric gun.

Electric Application Gun

Best for:

  • Large patios

Apply. Set. Scrape. Done.

Joint-It Manual Application Gun – designed to make applying epoxy grout simple.

Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Manual Application Gun – Technical Information:

  • Product: Joint-It Manual 2-Part Epoxy Grout Application Gun
  • Manufacturer: Joint-It
  • Capacity: 400ml
  • Type: Manual 2-part epoxy grout application gun
  • Cartridge compatibility: Designed for 400ml twin/parallel cartridges, including 42mm-diameter parallel tubes.
  • Purpose: Designed to apply two-part Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout by forcing Parts A and B through the supplied mixing nozzle and directly into the paving joint.
  • Controlled application: Provides controlled, accurate and even dispensing of thick epoxy grout directly into paving joints.
  • Operation: The manual trigger and handle apply pressure to the cartridge, dispensing the two epoxy components through the mixing nozzle where they are automatically combined.
  • Ideal for: Smaller patios, garden paths, repairs, touch-ups, DIY paving projects and occasional paving work.
  • Larger projects: For larger areas or continuous professional applications, a battery or electric application gun may be more suitable, providing faster application with less manual effort.
  • Epoxy grout consistency: Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout is a thick two-part epoxy, so sufficient pressure is required to dispense the product. Warming the cartridge in warm water before application helps soften the grout and makes dispensing easier.
  • Cartridge preparation: Remove the twist cap from the Joint-It 400ml cartridge and securely attach the supplied mixing nozzle before loading the cartridge into the application gun.
  • Nozzle preparation: Cut the mixing nozzle at approximately 45° using a clean, sharp Stanley knife. Adjust the opening to suit the paving joint, ensuring the aperture is large enough to allow the epoxy grout to flow smoothly.
  • Initial discharge: Before applying the grout to the paving, dispense and discard approximately the first 2cm of material. This ensures Parts A and B have mixed thoroughly and the epoxy grout has activated. The material should appear as a consistent, uniform colour before application.
  • Application technique: Place the nozzle directly over or into the paving joint and operate the manual gun slowly and continuously. Maintain consistent pressure and movement to achieve an even flow of epoxy grout and minimise gaps within the joint.
  • Joint filling: Apply enough Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout to completely fill the joint, allowing the grout to sit slightly proud of the paving surface so it can be tooled and finished correctly.
  • Cleaning and maintenance: Clean any residual epoxy grout from the application gun after use to help prevent material from curing within the gun and maintain reliable performance.
  • Gun supplied separately: The Joint-It Manual Application Gun is an application accessory and does not include the Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout cartridge unless purchased as part of a specific kit.

Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout Application Process Using the Manual Application Gun:

  1. Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout is a high-strength, non-staining and non-permeable epoxy paving grout designed for smooth outdoor porcelain paving, tiles and smooth stone. It should only be used on surfaces where a finishing scraper can be smoothly pulled across the paving to remove excess grout. Not suitable for rough, uneven, textured or hand-cut paving edges.
  2. Do not use Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout in temperatures below 5°C or above 25°C.
  3. Before application, ensure the paving joints are between 1–5mm wide and have a minimum depth of 10mm. Joint-It is particularly suitable for the 2mm and 3mm joints commonly used with modern porcelain paving.
  4. Make sure all porcelain tiles or paving slabs are securely laid on a full-contact, solid base with no movement in the slabs before applying the epoxy grout.
  5. Ensure the paving is completely dry, clean and free from dirt, dust and debris before beginning the Joint-It epoxy grout application process.
  6. Approximately 30 minutes before application, place the Joint-It 400ml dual cartridge in warm water to soften the epoxy grout. While the cartridge is warming, prepare the paving and application area.
  7. Using the supplied sponge, apply a generous amount of Joint-It Anti Bonding Wax to the top of the paving along both sides of the joints. The wax creates a barrier between the epoxy grout and the paving surface, helping excess grout peel away more easily after setting.
  8. Apply the Anti Bonding Wax no more than 10–15 minutes before grouting for the best results.
  9. When ready to grout, remove the twist cap from the Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout cartridge and securely screw on the supplied mixing nozzle.
  10. Cut the end of the mixing nozzle at approximately 45° using a clean, sharp Stanley knife. Adjust the size of the nozzle opening to suit the width of the paving joint.
  11. Load the prepared 400ml Joint-It dual cartridge into the Joint-It Manual Application Gun. Pull back the gun plunger or lever, insert the cartridge securely into the gun and push it firmly into position. The manual application gun is designed specifically to provide controlled application of Joint-It epoxy grout without the need for an electric gun.
  12. Joint-It contains Parts A and B in separate chambers within the 400ml cartridge. As the manual application gun applies pressure to the cartridge, both components are pushed through the mixing nozzle where they are automatically combined and activated.
  13. Before applying grout to the paving, slowly squeeze the handle of the manual application gun and dispense approximately the first 2cm of epoxy grout. Discard this initial material to ensure Parts A and B have mixed correctly and the epoxy grout is fully activated.
  14. Place the nozzle directly over the paving joint and gently squeeze the manual gun handle to dispense the Joint-It epoxy grout. Move the gun steadily along the joint, maintaining consistent pressure to achieve an even flow of grout.
  15. Continue applying the epoxy grout directly into the joint until it is completely filled. Apply enough product for the grout to sit slightly proud of the surface of the paving, allowing it to be tooled and finished correctly.
  16. The manual Joint-It application gun provides precise control over the flow of epoxy grout, making it particularly suitable for smaller patios, garden paths, repairs, touch-ups and DIY paving projects. For larger areas and continuous professional applications, an electric application gun may be more suitable.
  17. Leave the Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout for approximately 10–15 minutes to begin setting or ‘go-off’. Setting time can vary depending on temperature and site conditions.
  18. Once the epoxy grout is semi-set, use the round ball finishing tool to carefully tool the joints. Pull the tool smoothly along the joint to create a neat, smooth and consistent professional finish.
  19. Once the grout feels hard to the touch, use a suitable sharp blade or grout scraper to carefully peel away and remove excess epoxy grout from the paving surface. If the grout remains sticky or difficult to scrape away cleanly, it has not set sufficiently and should be left for longer before scraping.
  20. Joint-It Anti Bonding Wax will naturally weather away from the paving surface over the following weeks. There is no need to remove the remaining wax after the epoxy grout application.
  21. Joint-It Porcelain Epoxy Grout has a professional matte finish. In some conditions, the grout may initially appear slightly glossy after application; this will naturally tone down over the following weeks.
  22. Once fully cured, Joint-It creates a durable, waterproof and low-maintenance joint for outdoor porcelain paving and smooth stone. The finished grout is pressure washer safe once fully cured.
```
Joint-It is a two-part, gun-applied epoxy grout designed specifically for outdoor porcelain paving and smooth stone. It creates a strong, waterproof and non-permeable joint without the messy slurry and time-sensitive wash-off associated with many traditional paving grouts. It is designed for 1-5mm joints with a minimum depth of 10mm.
