About the product

Flowpoint Premium Standard Stone Grey paving grout: 56 x 25kg full pallet

UltraScape Flowpoint Premium Standard Stone Grey is a rapid-set slurry jointing mortar that we particularly recommend for natural stone paving and granite setts. Its highly fluid consistency helps fill joints to create a rigid, bound, void-free finish, while early trafficking helps you get paved areas back into use sooner. The contemporary grey colour complements both lighter and darker stone, and the grout is also suitable for concrete flags and clay pavers on an appropriate rigid construction.

Supplied as a full pallet of 56 x 25kg bags, it gives you 1,400kg of grout for larger natural stone paving and granite sett projects. Ordering a full pallet means you can get the grout you need delivered together and have bags ready as the job moves along, rather than having to order more halfway through. It's a handy option for bigger natural stone paving and granite sett jobs, from courtyards and pathways to town-centre paving and carriageways.

Flowpoint Premium Standard conforms to BS 7533 and suits joints 5–50mm wide and 20–200mm deep. Initial set is approximately 30 minutes at 20°C, with light foot traffic after approximately 1 hour. It is non-permeable and needs a suitable rigid, impermeable bed with adequate drainage falls.

We're a small, family-run business. I'm Cleo, the owner, with over 25 years in construction working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. Our knowledgeable team can help you work through colour choices and quantities before a full-pallet order, whether you're a paving contractor or planning your own larger patio.

Why choose Stone Grey?

Stone Grey gives a clean, contemporary grey finish. It is a useful match for grey porcelain, silver or grey sandstone, mixed light/dark natural stone and granite setts. It is lighter than Charcoal and has a different colour character from standard Natural Grey. Choose it when you want the joints to complement a grey paving scheme rather than introduce a warm buff tone.

Colour preference is not the same as technical compatibility. Always check a sample against the actual paving, especially where stone varies within the pack. Screen images cannot show every colour or texture accurately.

Colour Typical pairing
Stone Grey Contemporary grey paving and mixed darker/lighter natural stone
Limestone Pale, warm, rustic natural stone and Indian sandstone
Yorkstone Warm buff flags and golden-toned sandstone
Natural Grey General-purpose standard grey
Charcoal A darker joint or stronger contrast

Stone Grey paving matches

Paving Colour considerations
Grey porcelain A contemporary grey pairing; check joints are at least 5mm wide
Grey sandstone and silver Indian Stone Works with silver, grey and mixed buff/grey tones
Grey limestone A useful grey or blue-grey colour match; trial sensitive stone
Granite setts Grey and silver tones suit sett paving and larger public-realm schemes
Yorkstone Creates a greyer contrast against buff and beige stone
Slate Can suit dark grey/blue-grey schemes; trial the surface and protection method
Clay pavers and concrete flags Works with mid-grey paving in suitable rigid construction

For larger projects, natural stone paving and granite setts

The 56-bag format suits larger patios, paved courtyards, commercial landscaping and contractor projects using natural stone paving alongside granite setts. Flowpoint Premium Standard is designed for a rigid, bound, void-free joint and can be used across appropriate pedestrian schemes, pathways, driveways and carriageway paving. The whole paving build-up must be suitable for its intended traffic.

  • Slurry application fills joints across the surface without individually pointing each joint.
  • Shrinkage-compensated cementitious formulation with a strong bond.
  • Initial set typically 15–30 minutes at 20°C; foot traffic after approximately 1 hour and vehicles after 4 hours.
  • BS 7533 compliant and NBS Source registered.
  • Expected service life up to 40 years when correctly installed in suitable conditions.
  • Pre-mixed dry bags need measured clean water on site. Work in small batches, not pallet-sized mixes.

Coverage and quantity planning

Paving type One 25kg bag, approximate 56 bags, indicative only
Natural stone mixed packs 12–20m² 672–1,120m²
Granite setts 1.5–2m² 84–112m²

These ranges are not guaranteed pallet coverage. Small setts and deeper or wider joints use much more material than large slabs. Use your actual slab dimensions and joint width and depth in the calculator and allow for wastage. Calculator results refer to individual bags: divide by 56 to convert bags to pallets. For a requirement of 60 bags, one pallet plus four single Stone Grey bags may be more appropriate than automatically ordering two full pallets.

Check the grade before ordering

Grade Colours Joint width Joint depth Typical reason to choose
Flowpoint Standard Natural Grey, Charcoal 5–50mm 20–200mm General paving and granite setts
Premium Standard, this product Stone Grey, Limestone, Yorkstone 5–50mm 20–200mm Premium colour choices for joints from 5mm
Flowpoint ECO Natural Grey, Charcoal 5–50mm 20–200mm Projects specifying the ECO grade
Flowpoint Smooth Natural Grey, Charcoal 3–50mm 20–200mm Narrower joints
Premium Smooth Stone Grey, Limestone, Yorkstone 3–50mm 20–200mm Premium colours with joints from 3mm
Flowpoint Fine Natural Grey, Charcoal 2–50mm 20–200mm Fine finish without visible aggregate
Porcelpoint Stone Grey, Limestone 2–50mm 20–200mm Fine finish in premium colours

For Stone Grey joints below 5mm, consider Premium Smooth Stone Grey from 3mm. For a completely fine, aggregate-free appearance, choose the appropriate Porcelpoint Stone Grey product instead.

Protecting porous and sensitive stone

Dark limestone and other sensitive paving can react differently to cementitious slurry. Trial the complete application and clean-down on a small area first. Tile Rite Patio Prep or Nexus ProJoint temporary pre-sealer can form a protective barrier and help with residue removal. That is not a guarantee against every staining or oxidation risk. Follow the selected sealer's instructions and check compatibility. If you'd like another pair of eyes on your paving, send us a photo.

How to apply Premium Standard Stone Grey

  1. Check the bed is cured and suitable, drainage falls are in place and joints are clean and correctly sized.
  2. Without a pre-sealer, thoroughly wet paving and joints, remove all ponded water and keep the surface damp with a light mist. With a compatible temporary pre-sealer, trial first and follow its drying and water-use instructions.
  3. Measure 4.25 litres of clean water per 25kg bag, add powder and paddle-mix for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Apply promptly in small batches, following the current bag's working-time instructions. Initial set is not the usable working window. Never add extra water once mixed.
  5. Pour over the paving and force into joints with a long-handled neoprene squeegee bundle. Top up settled joints and remove surface excess.
  6. Wait until the joint is firm using the thumb test, then brush and wash thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Leave no mortar on the surface.

Never push waste slurry into drains, where it can set and cause a blockage. Wear suitable PPE; wet cement can cause serious burns. Avoid direct sunlight, temperatures below 3°C or frost expected within 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

I'm Cleo, owner of The Paving Experts. These are the practical questions our team helps customers with when choosing grout for a larger job.

What is Flowpoint Premium Standard used for?

It is a rapid-set, high-fluidity cementitious jointing mortar for paving requiring rigid, bound, void-free joints. Suitable construction includes natural stone, concrete and clay paving on domestic and commercial projects.

What colours are available?

Premium Standard comes in Stone Grey, Limestone and Yorkstone. Ordinary Standard comes in Natural Grey and Charcoal.

Is Premium a different joint size from ordinary Standard?

No. Premium Standard and ordinary Standard both start at 5mm wide joints. Premium Smooth starts at 3mm. All have the stated 20–200mm depth range on this comparison.

How does Stone Grey compare with Natural Grey?

Stone Grey is part of the premium colour palette and is suited to contemporary grey schemes and mixed lighter/darker stone. Natural Grey is the ordinary Standard grey. Compare samples against your paving for the finish you prefer.

How does Stone Grey compare with Charcoal?

Charcoal is darker and gives a stronger contrast. Stone Grey offers a lighter contemporary grey appearance.

Would Limestone be better for Indian sandstone?

Limestone often suits lighter, warm and rustic Indian sandstone. Stone Grey works well with silver/grey stone, while Yorkstone suits warmer golden-buff tones.

Can I use it with natural stone and granite setts?

Yes, on an appropriate rigid construction and within the joint limits. Granite setts need more material per square metre, so measure their joints carefully.

Is it BS 7533 compliant?

Yes. Premium Standard is BS 7533 compliant and is intended for appropriate bound paving installations.

Is it suitable for porcelain?

Yes, where joints are at least 5mm wide and 20mm deep and the construction is suitable. Use Premium Smooth from 3mm for narrower joints, or Porcelpoint if you want a fine finish without visible aggregate.

Is there a fine Stone Grey version?

Yes. Porcelpoint Stone Grey is the fine, aggregate-free option in this colour, for joints from 2mm. This Standard pallet is not that product.

How quickly does it set, and can I use it on driveways?

Initial set is typically 15–30 minutes at 20°C. Foot traffic is normally possible after about 1 hour and vehicles after 4 hours, depending on conditions. A driveway's complete paving construction must suit vehicular traffic.

Do I just add water?

Yes. Use 4.25 litres per 25kg bag and mix for 3–5 minutes. Work promptly in small batches following the current bag's working-time directions.

Can I use it in rain?

Light rain is acceptable. Remove standing water first and avoid conditions that flood the joints or disrupt clean-down.

Should I pre-seal?

A compatible temporary pre-sealer can help protect porous or sensitive paving. Trial first and follow its instructions. Without a sealer, pre-soak then remove standing water and keep the surface damp. Pre-sealing does not guarantee protection from all staining or oxidation.

Is it permeable?

No. It creates a rigid, non-permeable joint and needs suitable impermeable construction and drainage falls.

Can I store bags for a later phase?

Unopened bags have an 8-month shelf life from manufacture. Check bag dates, store cool, dry and frost-free, and protect from rain and ground moisture. Check batch identification and colour consistency before starting each phase.

How do I read the calculator on a pallet listing?

The material estimate is in individual bags. Divide by 56 for pallets, and round up when buying full pallets. Single bags can cover smaller shortfalls without ordering another full pallet.

What delivery is included?

What contractors say

“Flowpoint is just so easy and quick to install that it makes you money. It's a well-priced product and, in my view, a landscaper's friend. Ultimately, it means less time on the job and more profit in your pocket.”

Gareth Wilson, Hard Landscaping Expert and RHS Award Winner.

“Flowpoint is our go-to product when it comes to jointing all our paving. Like the rest of the materials, I love how it gives me confidence that the products will stand the test of time, allowing homeowners to enjoy their garden for years to come.”

Common misconceptions

Concern What to keep in mind
Flowpoint is unproven The range has a long track record on domestic, commercial and public-realm paving.
It requires lots of specialist tools A paddle mixer and long-handled squeegee are the main additions to normal paving equipment.
It sets instantly on slabs It is rapid-setting, not instant. Good preparation, manageable sections and timely clean-down matter.
Cracking or low spots are unavoidable Washing before the joint is firm can remove material. Check the joint rather than surface appearance alone.
Efflorescence cannot occur Bedding, excess water and installation conditions can contribute to deposits or colour variation.
Every paving bed needs exactly 28 days Follow the bedding product's curing requirements and site conditions instead of applying one rule to every installation.

Free standard 3–5 working day delivery to England, Wales and the main areas of Scotland. Some Scottish delivery areas may carry an extra charge; we will contact you if this applies. Tell us about restricted access before ordering. Smaller-lorry delivery may cost extra.

Mixing and applying Premium Standard Stone Grey

Each pallet contains 56 individual 25kg bags. Work in manageable sections and mix small batches. Never put waste slurry into drains: it will set and cause a permanent blockage.

1. Prepare

Check the paving is laid on a suitable cured, rigid impermeable bed with drainage falls. Clean joints, remove debris and check dimensions: 5–50mm wide and 20–200mm deep.

Without a pre-sealer: thoroughly pre-soak paving and joints, then remove all standing water, ideally with a leaf blower. Keep the surface damp, not flooded, using a light mist as you work.

With a temporary pre-sealer: trial a compatible product such as Tile Rite Patio Prep or Nexus ProJoint Pre-Grout. Follow its preparation, drying and water-use instructions and clear standing water from joints. A protective barrier does not guarantee against all staining or oxidation.

2. Mix

  1. Add 4.25 litres of clean water per 25kg bag to a clean mixing vessel.
  2. Add the powder gradually and paddle-mix for 3–5 minutes until smooth and lump-free.
  3. Apply promptly, following the current bag's working-time instructions. Initial set is not usable working time.
  4. Never store liquid mortar, retemper or add extra water after mixing.

3. Apply and wash off

  1. Pour across the paving and work fully into joints with a neoprene squeegee & 3 section pole.
  2. Top up any joints where mortar settles and remove excess slurry from the surface as you go.
  3. Maintain the surface conditions required by the preparation method. Do not let slurry dry onto the paving.
  4. Use the thumb test to check that joints are firm before cleaning, rather than washing out soft mortar.
  5. Brush and wash thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Leave no grout residue on the surface and wash tools frequently.

4. Weather, traffic and safety

At 20°C, foot traffic is normally possible after about 1 hour and vehicles after 4 hours. Cooler conditions slow setting and warmth accelerates it. Avoid direct sunlight, temperatures below 3°C and frost expected within 24 hours. Light rain is acceptable but remove standing water.

Wear gloves, eye protection and suitable PPE. Wet cement can cause serious burns. Store sealed bags cool, dry and frost-free. Shelf life is 8 months from manufacture. Keep the pallet protected from rain and ground moisture.

Flowpoint Premium is a rapid-setting, cement-based paving grout for suitable natural stone, porcelain, concrete flags and granite setts. The flowable mix helps fill the joints, while the correct grade, paving build-up and application method all matter to the finished result. The existing range information describes a service life of up to 40 years when correctly installed, for domestic and commercial projects. Choose the grade by joint dimensions as well as colour. Premium Standard suits joints 5–50mm wide; Premium Smooth has a finer aggregate for joints 3–50mm wide. Both have a joint-depth range of 20–200mm. The 2mm minimum applies to Fine and Porcelpoint, not Premium Smooth. Premium Smooth comes in Limestone, Stone Grey and Yorkstone. Trial the grout and preparation method on your paving before wider use. A temporary pre-grout sealer can help protect the surface during grouting; follow its preparation instructions. Without temporary pre-sealer, dampen paving and joints and remove standing water. Work the grout into the joints with a squeegee and clean thoroughly once the joints are sufficiently firm. Initial set is not the same as working time: check the current bag instructions and joint firmness rather than washing by the clock alone.
