About the product

UltraScape Flowpoint Premium Smooth Paving Grout — Limestone | 25KG Bag

Smooth Flowable Paving Grout in a Warm Limestone Tone — Joints from 3mm

Flowpoint Premium Smooth Limestone is one of the most eagerly anticipated additions to the Flowpoint range — combining the finer aggregate of Flowpoint Smooth with the warm limestone colour of Flowpoint Premium. It fills joints from just 3mm, sets in 30 minutes, and lasts up to 40 years. Developed specifically for pale natural stones and porcelain where Natural Grey or Charcoal would look too stark, it's a product our customers have been asking for — and one we're delighted to finally have on the shelf.

Rapid-setting, BS 7533 compliant, joints from 3–50mm wide and 20–200mm deep, supplied in 25kg bags — Flowpoint Premium Smooth Limestone is a professional-strength paving grout that gives pale stone and porcelain the colour-matched, fine-jointed finish they deserve.

We're a small, family-run business — I'm Cleo, the owner, with over 25 years in the construction industry, having worked with businesses such as Tarmac and Instarmac. The combination of finer aggregate and a warm limestone colour has been one of the most requested additions to the Flowpoint range — and now it's here, it really does make a difference on the right stone.

If you're jointing porcelain, Cotswold limestone, Bath Stone, cream Indian sandstone, travertine, Yorkstone or any pale cream or buff-toned natural stone — particularly with joints narrower than 5mm — this is the product we'd confidently recommend. Its finer aggregate flows beautifully into tighter joints without bridging or voids, and the warm limestone tone blends naturally with pale stones. For darker limestones such as black limestone, please give us a call — we'll point you in the right direction.

What Contractors Say

GARETH WILSON — Hard Landscaping Expert & RHS Award Winner
"Some landscapers are stuck in their ways and they don't like change. Their attitude is, 'I've been doing this for 20 years… Why should I change now?' And some are quite rightly scared when they consider pouring Flowpoint onto their slabs — at the end of the day, you are pouring a cementitious slurry directly onto the pavers. It goes against everything that you've been taught. But Flowpoint has been developed so it doesn't stick to the paving.

"Flowpoint is just so easy and quick to install that it makes you money. It's a well-priced product and, in my view, a landscaper's friend. Ultimately, it means less time on the job and more profit in your pocket."

JORDAN CLAYTON — Owner of Next Level Landscapes Ltd.
"Flowpoint is our go-to product when it comes to jointing all our paving. I love how it gives me confidence that the products will stand the test of time, allowing homeowners to enjoy their garden for years to come."

Common Flowpoint Myths — Busted

Myth The Truth
Flowpoint is new and unproven Developed around 25 years ago and used on thousands of major projects worldwide — New Zealand, Norway, America and Dubai among them.
It requires specialist equipment Not at all — a paddle mixer and a long-handled neoprene squeegee are all you need beyond standard paving tools.
Only experienced contractors can use it Straightforward once you know how. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, watch a demonstration first, and always do a small trial area.
Flowpoint sticks to pavers It doesn't set instantly. Keep the area damp and plan around the weather — particularly in hot conditions.
It causes cracking and low spots This happens when it's washed off too early. Use the thumb test — if the joint is still bleeding, wait.
It works with every paving material Most, yes — but not black limestone without a pre-sealer, as it can oxidise and cause staining.
It causes efflorescence Applied correctly it shouldn't. Problems usually come from an insufficiently dried bed, too much water in the mix, or early pressure-washing.
Paving must be kept completely wet Damp, not saturated. Too much water can dilute the mix and contribute to joint failure.
Slabs must sit for 28 days before grouting The key is that the bedding mortar is properly cured with no visible dampness. Always follow manufacturer's guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions about UltraScape Flowpoint Premium Smooth Limestone

I'm Cleo, owner of The Paving Experts, with over 25 years in the construction industry working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. I work alongside a small team of incredibly knowledgeable and caring individuals who share the same passion for getting it right. These are the questions we get asked every single day — so if yours isn't there, just give us a call.

What is Flowpoint Premium Smooth and how is it different from other Flowpoint grades?

It combines two things: the finer aggregate of Flowpoint Smooth (joints from 3mm rather than 5mm) with the premium colour palette (Limestone, Stone Grey, Yorkstone). If you need both a tight joint and a colour-matched finish — particularly for pale natural stone or porcelain — this is the one.

Why is the Limestone colour significant?

Until now contractors working with pale stones — Cotswold limestone, Bath Stone, cream sandstone, travertine — had to choose between Natural Grey (too cool) or Charcoal (too dark). Limestone fills that gap beautifully. Combined with the finer aggregate of Smooth, it's the complete solution for pale stone and porcelain with narrow joints.

Can I use it with porcelain paving?

Yes — it's an excellent choice for cream, buff or warm-toned porcelain. The finer aggregate flows cleanly into narrow joints without bridging or leaving voids. We also strongly recommend a temporary pre-sealer such as Tile Rite Patio Prep before grouting, as porcelain can be prone to grout haze without surface protection.

Can I use it with black limestone?

Caution on two counts — Flowpoint can cause oxidisation on some darker limestones, and the Limestone colour won't be a suitable match in any case. If you're working with darker stones, give us a call and we'll point you in the right direction.

How long does it last?

Applied correctly, up to 40 years without the need to re-grout.

What's the set time?

30 minutes at 20°C, walkable after 1 hour. Cooler conditions slow it down; warmer ones speed it up. See our guides on grouting in cold weather and grouting in warm weather.

Is it permeable?

No — non-permeable. Must always be applied on a solid, non-permeable bed with adequate drainage fall.

Can I use it in the rain?

Yes — light rain is fine, and a damp day can actually help slow the set down. Just make sure the joints aren't full of rainwater before you begin.

Do I need to pre-seal?

Using a pre-sealer like Tile Rite Patio Prep: don't pre-soak — the sealer acts as the barrier. Without a sealer: thoroughly wet the paving, remove all standing water, and keep the surface damp throughout.

What's the shelf life?

8 months from the date of manufacture (printed on the bag), stored sealed in cool, dry, frost-free conditions. Using it after the declared storage period may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.

How much do I need?

Use the Flowpoint Calculator on this page for an accurate estimate, or call us and we'll work it out for you.

Please note: The videos below show Flowpoint Fine being applied. The mixing and application principles are exactly the same for Flowpoint Premium Smooth — the only difference is the water ratio. Flowpoint Fine and Porcelpoint require 3.4 litres per 20kg bucket, whereas Flowpoint Standard, Smooth, ECO and Premium require 4.25 litres per 25kg bag.

How to Mix & Apply UltraScape Flowpoint Premium Smooth Paving Grout

Step 1 — Preparation

There are two approaches depending on whether you are using a temporary pre-grout sealer or not:

Without a temporary pre-sealer (standard method):

  1. Ensure joints are clean and free from debris, dust and loose material.
  2. Thoroughly pre-soak the paving surface and joints with water — the paving must be properly wet before you begin.
  3. Then remove all standing or ponded water from the surface and from within the joints — a leaf blower is ideal for this. The paving should be damp, not waterlogged. This is the key step: the paving needs to be wet enough to prevent the grout drying out too quickly, but any excess standing water will over-dilute the mix and weaken the joint.
  4. Keep the surface moist throughout application by misting with a soft spray of water as you work — do not allow it to dry out.

With a temporary pre-grout sealer (e.g. Tile Rite Patio Prep or Nexus ProJoint Pre-Grout):

  1. Apply the temporary sealer to the paving in advance and allow it to dry as per the product instructions.
  2. Do not pre-soak the paving with water. The temporary sealer acts as the protective barrier at this stage — water is not required until clean-down.
  3. Remove any standing water from the joints using a leaf blower before grouting begins.
  4. Always carry out a small trial area first to ensure compatibility with your stone type.

Step 2 — Mixing

  1. Add 4.25 litres of clean water per 25kg bag into a clean bucket or mixing vessel.
  2. Gradually add the Flowpoint Premium Smooth powder to the water (not the other way around) and mix for 3–5 minutes until a smooth, lump-free, pourable consistency is achieved. Use a slow-speed drill and paddle mixer for best results.
  3. Only mix what you can apply in approximately 4 minutes — do not store liquid mortar.
  4. Never remix or add extra water once mixed. Doing so will weaken the final joint and may cause staining.

Step 3 — Application

  1. Pour the mixed grout directly onto the paving surface.
  2. Using a neoprene squeegee, carefully force the mortar into the joints, working it across the surface repeatedly. The finer aggregate of Flowpoint Premium Smooth flows particularly well into narrow joints — work methodically to ensure all joints are fully filled. Top up any joints where the mortar has slumped after initial placement.
  3. Use the squeegee to remove as much excess mortar as possible from the surface as you go.
  4. If not using a temporary pre-sealer, keep the surface constantly moist using a soft spray of water throughout application. If using a pre-sealer, water is not required until clean-down.
  5. Once the jointing mortar has reached its initial set and hardened sufficiently, clean the paving surface thoroughly using a brush and copious amounts of clean water. No mortar must be allowed to remain on the surface of the paving.
  6. Wash all tools frequently during application.

Step 4 — Trafficking

  • Foot traffic: after 1 hour (at 20°C)
  • Vehicular traffic: after 4 hours (at 20°C)
  • Cool temperatures retard set; warm temperatures accelerate it. Avoid applying in direct sunlight or during frost.

Important Precautions

  • Wear appropriate PPE — avoid skin and eye contact. Wet cement can cause serious burns to the skin.
  • Never remix or add extra water to the mix once it has been prepared.
  • If you are not using one of UltraScape's pre-bagged bedding mortars, take care when selecting aggregates or sands for your site-batched bedding mortar. Some bedding mortars can leach pigment into the Flowpoint, causing variation in joint colour. If in doubt, give us a call — we're happy to advise.
  • Do not apply in temperatures below 3°C or if frost is expected within 24 hours.
  • Do not apply in direct sunlight — the product will set rapidly and may be difficult to clean down.
  • Store in a cool, dry, frost-free area. Shelf life: 8 months from date of manufacture (printed on the white strip on the side of the bag).
Flowpoint Premium Paving Grout from Ultrascape is a rapid-set, cement-based grout engineered for natural stone, porcelain slabs, concrete flags, and granite setts. Its highly flowable consistency ensures joints are completely filled, delivering a strong, durable finish with a lifespan of 30–40 years. Fully BS 7533 compliant, Flowpoint is suitable for both domestic and commercial paving projects. It is available in specialist grades—Standard, Smooth, and Porcelpoint—tailored to different joint widths, depths, and surface finishes. For optimal results, pre-seal paving slabs with a temporary pre-grout sealer to reduce the risk of staining and efflorescence. Mix Flowpoint Premium to a smooth, pourable consistency and apply while surfaces are damp using a squeegee. Once the grout is touch-dry (typically 15–30 minutes), clean the surface using a Berta Sponge Machine or Pedalo. Flowpoint accommodates joint widths from 2–50 mm and depths of 20–200 mm, providing a long-lasting, stain-resistant, professional finish ideal for patios, driveways, and commercial paving schemes.
