About the product

UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth Natural Grey | Part Pallet — 40 x 25kg Bags | Free Delivery

Rapid-Set Flowable Paving Grout for Smooth Slabs & Porcelain — Joints from 3mm — 40 Bags, Free Delivery

UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth Natural Grey is one of the best rapid set flowable paving grouts on the market — engineered specifically for smooth paving stones, slabs and porcelain where joints can be as narrow as 3mm. This 40-bag part pallet is the right quantity for large domestic or mid-scale commercial projects: enough to cover substantial areas without over-ordering. Free standard delivery included.

BS 7533 compliant, sets in 15 minutes at 20°C, joints from 3–50mm wide and 20–200mm deep, open to vehicles in 4 hours, 49.6N/mm² compressive strength, supplied in 25kg showerproof bags — Flowpoint Smooth is a professional-strength flowable paving grout for smooth paving, porcelain and tight-jointed natural stone.

We're a small, family-run business — I'm Cleo, the owner, with over 25 years in the construction industry working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. Flowpoint Smooth is the grade we reach for when joints are tighter than 5mm, the surface is smooth or polished, or the project calls for a particularly clean, seamless finish. At 40 bags it's a popular choice for larger domestic patios and driveways, and for contractors working on mid-scale schemes.

Flowpoint Smooth works confidently across porcelain, sandstone, limestone, Indian Stone, Yorkstone, clay pavers and concrete flags. For darker limestones, apply a temporary pre-sealer such as Tile Rite Patio Prep before grouting. Unsure? Read our black limestone guide or give us a call.

UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth Natural Grey is a fast-curing, flowable, cement-based paving grout with a high fluid consistency, designed for smooth paving stones and slabs where joints can be as narrow as 3mm. Mixed with water on site, poured across the paving surface and worked into joints with a neoprene squeegee, it sets to leave strong, durable, weed-resistant, void-free joints. Far faster than traditional hand-pointing.

What Do Industry Experts Say About Flowpoint?

Flowpoint Smooth has been trusted on demanding projects for over 20 years. We asked Gareth Wilson, one of the UK's most respected hard landscaping experts, for his view.

Gareth has 30 years in the landscaping trade, 30 Royal Horticultural Show (RHS) awards for show garden construction, and now works as an expert witness in hard landscaping:

GARETH WILSON — Hard Landscaping Expert & RHS Award Winner
"Some landscapers are stuck in their ways and they don't like change. Their attitude is, 'I've been doing this for 20 years… Why should I change now?' And some are quite rightly scared when they consider pouring Flowpoint onto their slabs — at the end of the day, you are pouring a cementitious slurry directly onto the pavers. It goes against everything that you've been taught. But Flowpoint has been developed so it doesn't stick to the paving.

"In addition to its British Standard rating and the strength of the product, it's also the speed at which you can install it. If you're going to be on your hands and knees with a trowel and a three-to-one mortar mix, it will take you about five times as long to install, compared with using Flowpoint. Flowpoint is just so easy and quick to install that it makes you money. It's a well-priced product and, in my view, a landscaper's friend. Ultimately, it means less time on the job and more profit in your pocket."

Common Flowpoint Myths — Busted

Myth The Truth
Myth #1: Flowpoint is a new product Flowpoint has been in use for over 25 years. Flowpoint Smooth itself has been in use for over 20 years.
Myth #2: You need specialist equipment A paddle mixer and a long-handled neoprene squeegee are all you need beyond standard paving tools.
Myth #3: It's only for experienced contractors Straightforward once you've seen it done. Watch a demonstration, follow the instructions, and do a trial area first.
Myth #4: Flowpoint sticks permanently to pavers Keep the surface damp and time your work around the weather. In warm conditions, work during cooler parts of the day.
Myth #5: It causes cracking and low spots Cracking typically happens when grout is washed off too early. Use the thumb test — if the joint still feels soft, wait longer.
Myth #6: It works with every stone type Flowpoint Smooth works with most paving materials. The exception is black limestone without a temporary pre-sealer, which risks oxidisation.
Myth #7: Flowpoint causes efflorescence Efflorescence is not a product fault — usually caused by insufficient bed drying time, excess water in the mix, or pressure-washing too early.
Myth #8: The paving must be kept soaking wet Damp, not saturated. Remove standing water before grouting, then mist the surface throughout.
Myth #9: Slabs must cure for 28 days first The key is a solid, set, dry bed — not a fixed number of days. The manufacturer recommends 21–28 days, but contractors often grout sooner when conditions allow.

Frequently Asked Questions — UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth Natural Grey (40 Bag Part Pallet)

I'm Cleo, owner of The Paving Experts, with over 25 years in the construction industry working with businesses including Tarmac and Instarmac. I work alongside a small team of incredibly knowledgeable and caring individuals who share the same passion for getting it right. The FAQ answers below come from the questions we're asked every single day.

1. What is UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth?

UltraScape Flowpoint Smooth is a rapid-set, flowable paving grout designed specifically for smooth paving stones and slabs. It produces a seamless, void-free joint that conforms to BS 7533. Pre-mixed in 25kg showerproof bags, it requires only the addition of water on site.

2. What is Flowpoint Smooth used for?

From domestic patios and driveways to town centre pedestrian schemes, pathways and carriageways. Suitable for natural stone, concrete flags and clay pavers, and particularly well suited to smooth or polished surfaces where a seamless, void-free finish is required.

3. How is Flowpoint Smooth different from Flowpoint Standard?

Flowpoint Smooth handles joints from 3mm — two millimetres tighter than Standard (5mm minimum). Its high fluid consistency produces a seamless finish particularly suited to smooth or polished surfaces. Compressive strength, water ratio and trafficking times are identical to Standard.

4. What joint widths can Flowpoint Smooth be used for?

3mm to 50mm wide and 20mm to 200mm deep. For joints narrower than 3mm, consider Flowpoint Fine or Porcelpoint (both from 2mm). Give us a call if you're unsure.

5. What is the set time for Flowpoint Smooth?

15 minutes at 20°C. Colder conditions extend the set, warmer ones shorten it. Always use the thumb test before cleaning down.

6. How long before you can walk on Flowpoint Smooth?

Light foot traffic after approximately 1 hour. Allow a little longer in colder conditions.

7. How long before vehicles can drive over Flowpoint Smooth?

Approximately 4 hours. Ideal for driveways and schemes where the surface needs to return to use quickly.

8. Is Flowpoint Smooth BS 7533 compliant?

Yes — conforms to and exceeds BS 7533. NBS Source registered and approved for use on the London Underground and Overground.

9. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used on porcelain paving?

Yes — particularly well suited to porcelain where joints are 3mm or wider. Strongly recommend a temporary pre-sealer such as Tile Rite Patio Prep to prevent grout haze on polished surfaces.

10. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used on natural stone paving?

Yes — sandstone, limestone, Indian Stone, Yorkstone and granite setts. Always carry out a small trial first. For darker limestones, apply Tile Rite Patio Prep to prevent oxidisation.

11. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used on concrete paving?

Yes — suitable for concrete flags. Creates a strong, non-permeable, weed-resistant joint.

12. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used on clay pavers?

Yes — ensure the paving is thoroughly pre-soaked before application on any absorbent surface.

13. Is Flowpoint Smooth suitable for driveways and high-traffic areas?

Yes — with 49.6N/mm² compressive strength and vehicular trafficking possible after 4 hours, well suited to driveways and carriageway schemes.

14. Is Flowpoint Smooth suitable for large paving areas?

Yes — a 40-bag part pallet covers substantial areas efficiently. Its flowable method is far faster than hand-pointing on large surfaces.

15. How do you apply Flowpoint Smooth?

Pre-soak the paving and remove all ponded water. Add 4.25 litres of clean water per 25kg bag, mix for 3–5 minutes. Pour and work into joints with a neoprene squeegee. Keep the surface misted. Once initial set is reached, clean down with a brush and clean water. Only mix what you can place in approximately 4 minutes.

16. How much water do you add to a 25kg bag of Flowpoint Smooth?

Exactly 4.25 litres of clean water per bag. Never add more water or remix once the grout has started to set.

17. Is Flowpoint Smooth easy to mix?

Yes — pre-mixed dry-pack. Add water, mix 3–5 minutes with a slow-speed drill and paddle mixer. No specialist equipment required.

18. What colours does Flowpoint Smooth come in?

Natural Grey (this deal) and Charcoal (40-bag deal here). For Stone Grey, Limestone and Yorkstone, see Flowpoint Premium Smooth.

19. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used on black limestone?

Yes, with the right preparation. Apply Tile Rite Patio Prep before grouting to prevent oxidisation. Call us for advice on your specific stone.

20. Can Flowpoint Smooth be used in the rain?

Yes — in light rain. Ensure joints are clear of ponded water. Do not apply during heavy rain or when frost is forecast within 24 hours.

21. Is Flowpoint Smooth permeable?

No — non-permeable cementitious grout. Must be used on a solid, non-permeable bed. Contact us if you need a permeable solution.

22. Do I need to pre-seal my slabs before using Flowpoint Smooth?

With a temporary pre-sealer: do not pre-soak — the sealer replaces this step.
Without a sealer: thoroughly wet the paving, then remove all standing water. The surface should be damp, not waterlogged.

23. What is the shelf life of Flowpoint Smooth?

8 months from date of manufacture, printed on the white strip on the side of each bag. Store in a cool, dry, frost-free environment, clear of the ground.

24. How long does Flowpoint Smooth last?

When applied correctly, Flowpoint Smooth can last up to 40 years without the need to re-grout.

25. How much Flowpoint Smooth do I need?

A 40-bag part pallet covers approximately 480–640m² for natural stone mixed packs, or around 60–80m² for granite setts. Use the Flowpoint Calculator on this page for a precise estimate, or call us.

26. How do I tell the Flowpoint grades apart on delivery?

The bag colour tells you the grade. Flowpoint Smooth bags are orange and blue. Standard is black and orange; ECO is orange and green; Fine comes in tubs. The specific colour variant (Natural Grey or Charcoal) is printed on the white strip on the side of the bag.

27. What are the delivery terms for this deal?

Free standard delivery (3–5 working days) to most addresses in England and Wales. A small surcharge applies for Scotland. Important: free delivery requires site access for a 26-tonne articulated vehicle. If your site cannot accommodate a vehicle of this size, the pallet may need to be transferred to a smaller lorry at additional cost. Next-day delivery available on request but subject to an extra charge. Get in touch or call 0330 122 1025 if you have access restrictions or need to discuss delivery before ordering.

How do you mix & apply Flowpoint Smooth grout?

  1. Ensure that your paving slabs & joints are free from debris and any ponded water
  2. Pre-soak the surface of the slabs & joints with water to ensure they are damp, but not drowned in water
  3. Pour a bag of Flowpoint Smooth into a bucket and add 4.25 litres of water
  4. Mix for 3–5 minutes until you have a smooth consistency, free of lumps
  5. Ensure the area is still damp, then apply the mixture immediately by carefully pushing the Flowpoint Smooth into the joints using a neoprene squeegee. Flowpoint Smooth can set within as little as 15 minutes at 20°C so monitor the setting carefully
  6. Move the Flowpoint Smooth grout across the paving surface to top-up joints where the mortar may have sunk
  7. Use a neoprene squeegee to remove as much of the paving grout from the surface of the slabs — keeping the surfaces constantly damp to prevent the grout from hardening
  8. Use a brush and lots of water — or alternatively a pressure washer or sponge machine — to remove any grout that has hardened on the paving surfaces
  9. Once the mortar is dry, clean the surface of paving slabs thoroughly to remove any spots of mortar and prevent staining
  10. Your newly grouted patio will be ready to walk on after one hour, and can take vehicles after four hours

Important: only mix what you can place in approximately 4 minutes. Never add more water or remix once the grout has started to set.

Flowpoint paving grout from Ultrascape is a rapid-set, cement-based grout for natural stone, porcelain slabs, concrete flags, and granite setts. Its flowable consistency fills joints completely, creating a strong, durable finish lasting 30–40 years. BS 7533 compliant, Flowpoint is suitable for domestic and commercial paving and comes in specialist grades—Standard, Smooth, Fine, Eco, Premium, Premium Smooth, and Porcelpoint—designed for different joint widths, depths, and finishes. For best results, pre-seal slabs with a temporary pre-grout sealer to prevent staining and efflorescence. Mix to a smooth, pourable consistency, apply while surfaces are damp using a squeegee, and clean once touch-dry (15–30 minutes) with a Berta Sponge Machine or Pedalo. Flowpoint supports joint widths from 2–50 mm and depths of 20–200 mm, providing a durable, stain-resistant, professional finish for patios, driveways, and commercial paving.
